Pattaya python pedlar pinched

pp.jpg

PATTAYA: -- Pattaya tourists - more used to having things taken from around their necks - were spotted having something actually put there!

Though not a necklace snatch incident it was still an offence - Tourist police had spotted a man draping a three metre python around a bar customer.

The patron, out having a quiet beer, was none too pleased - hardly surprising with having an animal that constricts for a living around his windpipe!

Piyapong Ensarn out with volunteers on patrol for pickpockets and snatchers saw the customer scream in a bar area next to the station on Beach Road and moved in to detain Ekapong Jaemkomkamol, 37, and his slithery friend.

Taken back to the tourist police base Ekapong told officers that he had bought the snake and raised it since it was small. When it was big enough he brought it to Pattaya to charge tourists 150 baht a time for holiday snaps.

Most wanted souvenirs of it hung around their necks or with them kissing it.

Ekapong could not wriggle out of a charge - the animal was deeemed to be a protected species - and his source of income was taken to a wildlife sanctuary in Banglamung.

Have seen this guy before on second road. I wasn't too happy to see a large snake when I turned around. Good job Pattaya police.

So a Reticulated Python is now a protected species but a load of Tigers being drugged and abused on a daily basis are not? Their protection status seems change on a weekly basis. Seems a bit strange too me.

These <deleted> have been sneaking up on unsuspecting people in bars, putting snakes on them for over 30 years.

Some people have phobias and are deathly afraid of snakes.

About time something was done!

Twattoo tourist policeman seems to find it amusing........sad

Some tourist police have egos exceeding Thai police.

This peddaling Python predator will sliver slimely and surreptitiously back into the arms of other animal exploiters and be back trading on the street within the week.
