PETA surprises Bangkok shoppers with gory campaign to keep exotic skins out of fashion

BANGKOK: -- Today, PETA Asia kicked off a campaign to awaken the public to the cruel truth behind the exotic skins industry. An exhibition posing as a luxury leather pop-up store was set up in one of Bangkok’s hippest retail centers, with surprises lurking within.

When shoppers open bags, jackets and other products, they will see an apparent animal heart beating inside, illustrating how many reptiles are slaughtered alive and left to die of dehydration, which can take hours or days. Shop staff will be on standby to provide the information about the exhibition and campaign details.

Jason Baker, Vice-President of PETA Asia, said, “Every year, hundreds of thousands of reptiles are caught and slaughtered as part of the exotic skins industry. People, however, do not know how these reptiles suffer before turning into shoes, belts and bags. We know that the only way to help these animals is to make people realize that they are part of this criminal action, indirectly though. We hope this campaign will wake people up and inspire them to take the right action by only purchasing vegan clothing products.”

Chill dude. Shock reality works. If slaughterhouses had glass walls, there'd be alot more vegans and alot less fur and leather out there. PETA runs incredibly effective ads and campaigns.

And nobody is telling anybody what to do. Just generating some awareness for the unaware majority out there.

If you choose to buy cruelty-only products, that is still your right...though the tide is turning thanks to PETA and other organizations.

Hopefully someday the unnecessary human inflicted suffering will stop.

Undoubtedly wildlife in Asia is under stress , it is up to every person to protect these animals , for when they are gone their beauty is replaced by something more ugly, the elephant , tiger , monkey, several species of bird are all under stress of survival, so long as we are aware of this we can all help.......................

what a joke, PETA murder thousands of cats and dogs every year rather than let people adopt them, they are total hypocites and full of sh*t. This has been proven time and time again, cruelty to animals is not right but the bullsh*t Peta uses if simply garbage. Its a persons choice as to what they wear and what they eat, these crazies are so full of sh*t and hatered they are the ones that need to be culled
