Crikey. 24 years of living here and the police cop someone at last for driving dangerously. They could catch someone every day here on that one. However, he did not get a fine for his driving. The fine was for not telling the LTO about the change of colour of the car. Amazing Thailand. -

Thailand Delays Automated Entry System for Foreign Tourists
They are going to have to significantly improve processing times for the evisa system before they try implementing. I come to Thailand for 5.5 to 6 months each winter. It took 8 weeks to get an METV last year and 7 weeks the year before. I'm already closing in on 5 weeks this year with no response yet, and getting really frustrated with the system. Agents are telling you to wait until 1 month before arrival to book a condo rental, but you need accomodations confirmed before they will issue the evisa. Total disconnect. Also, how is this going to work for people doing border runs on the visa exempt system if you have to get your application submitted 1.5 to 2 months before doing your border run? -

Thanks so you quoted that I did say it: "if a comprehensive case were to go before the Supreme court on restricting mail order pills for abortion they would not support it" There is no way Comstock will be enforced, there are already massive arguments against it applying to abortion pills anyway, no court would apply it to abortion pills. Why would the FDA embarass itself by going against its own decision, these are drug regulation people, they are not ideologues. -

A tiled roof is not waterproof . You need a secondry roof to be secure on a leakage. Problem with a secondry roof is your cost of building the housse increases . -

Free trade agreement between Thailand and China?
You can read here the changes to the VAT regime enforced by the Thai customs: Thailand makes key interim changes for collection of VAT/excise tax on Low-Value Goods imports | EY - Global In a nutshell: "LVGs [i.e. low-value-goods] [...] are defined [...] as goods valued at not more than 1,500 Thai baht". The "import of LVG into Thailand is specifically exempted from duty" and "from the 7% VAT". However, from "5 July 2024 to 31 December 2024" "the import VAT exemption applies only to LVG valued not exceeding THB 1. For goods valued over THB 1 but not exceeding THB 1,500, import VAT shall be levied and collected by Thai Customs". These goods are still exempted from Import Duty. My guess is that UPS is charging you the 7% VAT. It is not yet clear what will happen after 31 december 2024 (TIT). -

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
I expect the part of the news article that they can submit a request to the manufacturers (i.e., dealerships) where a person bought the EV is incorrect especially since the manufacturers/dealerships want to advertise the lowest possible price to increase sales....a price that is based on the manufactures/dealership receiving the subsidy once they complete registration for the buyer. Now several manufacturers/dealerships have offered "cash back" promotions (not to be confused with the govt subsidy) for short periods where when a buyer must complete payment and registration (even thou the dealership handles the registraton) by a certain date to be eligible for "cash back" like below Bt100K BYD Atto promotions late last year and early this year.....just before BYD started dropping the retail price much more aggressively with no cash back promotion. I figure the "cash-back" promotions was BYD sneaky way of lowering the price of the EV without actually lowering the retail price even more.
