NARATHIWAT: -- Artificial rain-making team based in Hat Yai has been instructed to step up cloud seeding in an effort to extinguish peat forest fire at Phru Toh daeng in Narathiwat province.

Mr Lersak Riewtrakulpaiboon, director-general of Royal Rain-making and Agricultural Aviation Department, said Monday that the Air Force had provided one aircraft to help in rain-making effort and to follow up weather situation.

He said the Hat Yai-based team would step up cloud seeding and try to contain raining on the mountains to the easter side of Toh Daeng peat forest to ensure that rains would fall directly into the peat forest.

He pointed out that it was necessary for the peat forest to absorb water underground in order to put off the underground fire which has been simmering for several days.

As for the forest fires at Doi Suthep-Pui mountain, Mr Lersak said although the fires were under control, rain-making operation would continue for a while to ensure that fires would not recur.

I hope they can offer the Canadians in Alberta at Fort McMurray some of their expertise, they sure need it.

They really believe in this rubbish, idiots. If it worked don't you think firefighter across the planet would be using this technology especially in places like Australia that burns every year oh and let's not forget Canada at the moment.

Hope it works, lot if unicorns and fairies in that area !

You have to have clouds to seed and they seem to have taken a holiday

I noticed they also have brought out some holy cows (from India maybe?) to help.

Next would be the Groundhog???

Rainmaking efforts in the Narathiwat Province since May 4th with apparently little effect.

Perhaps the Science is inexact. If so, adding another aircraft will be meaningless.
