Wasn't a bomb, I agree. WOuld have been much more panic and devastation , rather than people just carrying on walking past or even sitting next to the guy.

Note that the story in the link has now changed from that in the OP. Perhaps it could be changed?

"Two men from Udon Thani province were injured when they stubbed a cigarette out on an abandoned explosive device at the Bangkok Railway Station this afternoon, a police officer said...

... The two men were not carrying the bomb as initially reported by police".

Heading south..do a job n hurry back up north....well,that confirms my thai friends conspiracy theory about certain official group fanning the fire in the south in order to increase the clandestine sales of arms to Southern rebels

Explosion at Hua Lampong station injures two

Hua-Lampong-wpcf_728x410.png

BANGKOK: -- A bomb went off in front of Hua Lampong railway station at 1.00 pm today injuring two train passengers.

The bomb exploded at the entrance to the station near KFC shop.

EOD police are now sealing off the station to inspect the area.

Initial report quoted witnesses as saying that the bomb was contained in a box and one of the injured was said to throw a cigarette butt into the box, igniting the explosion.

Two injured were admitted to the Klang Hospital.

However railway police commander said it was not a bomb but a bottle of inflammable substance in a bottle that exploded.

The cigarette butt which one passenger discarded off in the box triggered it to explode.

A bottle of turpentine/paint thinner, that stuff in a brown bottle, left from workers? That could do it.

Did they fine 2000 baht for littering, or does that law only apply to farangs?

Nope.

Read the story.

Its frustrating, but some people have the attention span of a fruit fly and reading more than a headline is an onerous task..

The story in Khaosod English clearly stated that the bottle/container had been abandoned by a third party. These guys just happened to be smoking a cigarette in the vicinity and when fire met powder or fumes there was a small explosion.

Since there was no reported injury from exploding glass ... perhaps it could have been a detonator. That's serious.

To be fair I think the post you are quoting was made before Khaosod updated the story and it did indeed state that those 2 were carrying the explosive device.

Not that I believe the arms sales to separatists nonsense.

Looks like the guy picked up a small bottle laid next to him to put his cigarette out in. As soon as he puts his cigarette in the bottle, boom!

Looks to me like an energy drink bottle full of Loas Kow whisky. Imo.
