NRSA’s social committee presents six-month performance report

BANGKOK, 12 May 2016 (NNT) – A committee under the National Reform Steering Assembly has presented a report on its performances during the past six months.

Chairman of the NRSA committee on social affairs Anothai Ritthipanyawong on Wednesday led his team to present the committee’s performance report to the main NRSA sitting.

Mr. Anothai said that the committee has been working actively on the “quick-win” reforms for all consumer protection efforts, as called for in the policies of the Prime Minister.

Under this move, Mr. Anothai said that the committee has touched on the fair mobile phone charge issue through discussions with business operators and representatives from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, the stricter traffic law enforcement to tackle various issues that include the problems of motorbikes and advertisement signboard on sidewalks.

He added that the committee has also pursued the mission to strengthen communities through such initiatives as the land bank mechanism and the overhaul of the community water management across the country while pushing for the elevation of skills of Thai labor in order to help them get sustainable jobs and enjoy a better quality of life. The committee has also worked on the setting up of the development centers for the handicapped and the plan to help the country cope with the issue of ageing society through the drafting of new laws.

Should only be a one line report then!

It is my clear impression, that in Thailand, reports like this describe what has been talked about, or speculated upon, not what has actually been done, and that Thais are often confused about the difference.

At the moment, it seems to me that Thailand has a 'gunner' government...

They're 'gunner' do this and they're 'gunner' do that... the news (which ought to be keeping Thailand informed), is often no more than a printed or televised rumour mill.

Not much actually changes in Thailand, except who the hot air is coming from.

Same same today, same same tomorrow..

It's hard to change the country when there is no enforcement, the only way to change Thailand is to get a police force that does as it supposed to,
