Greetings,

I have had 800,000 baht in my Thai bank for about 6 months now.

If I go and get a O visa in Laos, can I come back to the Thai Immigration and get my retirement extension right away since the money has been in the bank more than 3 months?

This is my first try for an extension. The reason I want it right away is, I will be going back to work outside Thailand soon and want to complete this right away.

I do know it only needs to be in the bank for 2 months for the first time but that is too long.

Thanks for the replys.

No, you can only apply for the extension during the last 30 days (45 days in some immigration offices) of the 90 day entry provided by the Non Immigrant visa.

Most immigration offices will not provide an extension until during the last 30 days that 90 the Visa will permit but nothing will be lost by asking.

If you are planning to return to Thailand before the 90 days expires you could protect the "O" visa entry with a reentry permit and apply for the extension on your return.

Believe conversion of a visa exempt entry (with at least 15 days remaining) to non immigrant O entry and immediate extension may be an option. Not sure if only available from agents or routinely done by Bangkok immigration - worth asking.

Not routine in Bangkok to do it in two trips since the norm is the visa and entry stamps are done about two weeks after application and then back again for the extension. Some agents can arrange it for a substantial fee.

Jomtien has bee reported as doing the extension during the 2nd trip to get the visa and entry stamps done if the money has been in the bank for 60 days.

You cannot apply for an extension of any kind if you have are within the 90 days of an extension beyond the 'enter before date'. One day before maybe depending on the compassion of the Thai officer you deal with. however this maybe differ for some of the immigration offices in the 6 provinces of Thailand.

Sorry but that makes no sense. Perhaps you should edit or re-word your post.

Your post is very difficult to understand, btw there are 77 provinces in this country.

I believe he is talking about the 6 Immigration divisions rather than provinces. But it also seems he is trying to say you can not obtain an extension if you have a multi entry visa until after the visa becomes invalid "enter before date". But actually you can obtain an extension during the last 30-45 days or any 90 day entry AFAIK.
