Hi,

I received a call earlier this evening that I will be required to head "back home" to Germany tomorrow morning.

I hold a German passport but prior to moving to Thailand only last week, I was a UK resident for the previous 9 years. As such, I currently have no official (perminent) residency in neither the UK nor Germany, I think, which means I won´t be covered by any health insurance for tomorrow´s trip to Germany. Therefore, I just wanted to sign up for a annual trip travel insurance online but after reading the terms and conditions, I now wonder if these guys will pay IF i happened to have an accident or medical emergency in Germany.

For example, BUPA says that

"I must have a place of residence in Thailand. I must depart my trip form Thailand and must return the trip to Thailand only."

Now, I am over here on a METV and am renting a condo in BKK. Does this constitute a "place of residence in Thailand" as requested by the Ts&Cs? Also, since I don´t know when I can return, I have now booked a oneway flight only. Does this in anyway represent a potential pitfall as the insurance company might claim that I never intended to return to TH because when I started the trip I did not have a valid return ticket?

I understand that I might be too critical but when I read what obscure reasons insurers often give to avoid paying out then ....

Maybe some people can provide some feedback. I will check back here first thing tomorrow, so that I would have time to get the policy online before I take the flight at lunchtime.

Thank you!
