CHANTHABURI, 16 May 2016 (NNT) – The Secretariat of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has held a conference promoting information regarding the upcoming referendum for the general public residing in the eastern region, as part of a campaign to promote democratic participation.


The Secretariat of the Senate, acting as the Secretariat of the National Legislative Assembly, today held a conference for government staff and local leaders in the eastern region at KP Grand Hotel, Chanthaburi. The event was part of a preparation campaign for local areas encouraging democratic participation, the promotion of information on the new constitution and to present the administration model of constitutional monarchy.

The event was officiated by the NLA Vice President Surachai Liengboonlertchai, who gave a special speech on the NLA’s role amidst Thailand’s current political situation, the main content of the new constitution, the referendum procedures according to the Referendum Act, and the role of legislative agencies.

The speech also included an exchange session to gather constructive comments that will encourage political participation and the creation of a network of leaders with good performance.

Participants in this event included 120 local leaders, community leaders, and prominent members of public relation networks in Chanthaburi, Trat, and Rayong provinces. The conference is scheduled for two days.
