I think Ancelotti got his team selection wrong, would of started with Drog and Anelka, Ramirez was one of our better players but yes at the end of the day we were beaten by a better, hungrier and more organised team :(

What do you think of the 50m GBP purchase of Fernando Torres then ??

Do you think Ancelotti's should be Sacked after a Trophyless Season, culminating in Chelsea humiliating Abbramovich by failing to even Qualify for teh Semi Final's of a Competition that will have it's Grande Finale in London ??

If yes to above, who do you think should be your new Manager ??

Fair play to you mate ;) I think if Droghba would have started you would have been more dangerous in the first half especially as Malouda was giving United a load of problems on the left all night.

Thatsyourlotti should b ashamed of himself but credit to him he held his hands up......but that makes me think who actually picks the team?? was he just picked because of the money or because of his quite good record against Vidic, whatever their is something not right about leaving dogshit on the bench when he is undoubtedly your best goalscoring forward.

Anyway good luck in the er...er....er fight for Europe again :P

Maybe but he would have run out of Steam in teh Second Half if he played in the First..

Drogba is in the twilight of his career now, still <deleted> mega dangeorus but not a 90 minute Man any more & Ancelotti is completely aware of that..

I'm not sure what to make of Torres, the guy is quality but perhaps the price tag is really putting him under pressure, I really do feel once he gets one he will be ok and start to look like his old self again. We got West Brom at the weekend so fingers crossed.

No I don't think Ancelotti should be sacked, he is a good manager and needs to be given time, no point in chopping and changing managers every other season. We need a good clear out in the summer and bring back the good talent we have farmed out.

I actually think, IF Torres regains his form, that him & Sturridge would be a superb Partnership..

Torres has a lot of quality and will come good eventually. We have all seen what he is capable of in his early Liverpool period and it's just a matter of time before he starts to shine again. His confidence seemed to go to pot during the world cup for some reason. He will be back. Ancelotti is undoubtedly a good manager, but Abramavitch isn't really that patient and I wouldn't be surprised to see him make Hiddink an offer he can't refuse. He has the best record under Abramavitch, who I think likes him a lot and although his tenure lasted only 22 matches, his win record was 73%, which is pretty impressive. A big plus as well is that the Chelsea players didn't want him to leave either.

Perhaps Abramo-rich feels like West Ham's owners. Wants to sack the manager but realises he is too deeply implicated in the failure (if indeed it was Abro who foisted the bull on Chelsea).

Nah! Come to think of it the super rich would never think that anything was their fault, they pay people to be the guilty ones.

You are right to question a Chelsea fan on this Singh - we don't have a clue how the fans are thinking, which is pretty unusual in this day and age of instant information. Perhaps they are all waiting for that ultra appropriate cut & paste. Mind you it does seem to be a bit difficult to have a strong opinion about Ancelotti - nice guy, trying hard (with his English at least), could do better. He might perform better when Abro has bought himself a US sporting team to play with; then he won't have to suffer that 'cut to a glowering Abramovich shot' on TV every time Torres fluffs it.

But can Russians (or any other aliens) own an American sporting team? We should be told the truth.

The derailing of Chelskis season is one of the worst examples of "board level" management i've seen. The fact that the axe seems to be coming down on a very decent coach with six games remaining is no surprise. Mr A seems to want to run a small club similar to Real Madrid. :D

I'll never forget that season a few years ago when El Galacticos had 4 managers in one season and they were even on top of the ruddy league for a lot of it.

FIFA should have stepped in and banned the owners from football for life for bringing the game into disrepute! Come to think of it, why do footballers get all the proverbial heaped on them for some crazy one-minute aberration but the owners get off scott free for persistent, repeated and egregious (means 'gross' Mr Red, you Northern monkey you ) offences on the beautiful game?

Where there's brass, there's muck.

Allright - I confess!

I'm Doncaster-born, Carlisle-raised and resident in [Khantaralak, Thailand and] Pudsey, West Yorkshire.

I know a thing or two about muck and brass (the latter comes from having worked a career in London alas!). Reversing the phrase was my poor attempt at witty comment. It's back to the bananas for me :licklips:

Love him or hate him when Drogba's mind is on the game he is unplayable!

West Brom 1 - 3 Chelsea

Didier Drogba was instrumental in a Chelsea comeback following Peter Odemwingie's opener for West Bromwich Albion.

The Ivory Coast international started ahead of £50million man Fernando Torres and the 33-year-old made sure Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti knew what he was missing after he got on the scoresheet and had a hand in Chelsea's two other first-half goals.

However it was the home side who stunned the visitors when Odemwingie's smart finish over Petr Cech came against the run of play with 17 minutes on the clock.

Nicky Shorey made a hash of a back-post clearance to gift Drogba the ball and the striker could do little else but score as he netted from close range to then draw Chelsea level.

Drogba then saw his long-range effort parried into the path of Salomon Kalou who drilled the ball into the back of the net for Chelsea's second.

Chelsea's frontman all but killed off a Baggies comeback in an entertaining first half as he nicked the ball off Odemwingie's toes and released Florent Malouda who pulled the ball back for Frank Lampard to side-foot home on the brink of half-time.

Kalou saw an effort come back off the crossbar and both second-half substitute Torres and Malouda did put the ball in the back of the net however they were deemed offside.

Chris Brunt was unlucky with a couple of strikes and could have netted with a late header as Albion upped the tempo with the introduction of tricky forward Carlos Vela, however Ancelotti's men took the three points back to London.

Despite the Blues manager's future looking uncertain after a faltering Premier League defence, Chelsea had, before the West Brom victory, lost just one of their last 10 matches.

And it is a similar run of form shared by the Baggies who in their last seven games remained unbeaten before the Chelsea visit.

Ancelotti rested an under-fire Torres, who before the kick-off was without a goal in 11 games for his new club, in favour of Drogba. Other changes from the midweek defeat to Manchester United included John Obi Mikel and David Luiz coming in for the injured Alex and Ramires. Kalou also started ahead of Nicolas Anelka.

Roy Hodgson made just one change with James Morrison coming in for forward Simon Cox.

A shock was likely to be on the cards at The Hawthorns as Albion started the game brightly and their opener was richly deserved.

Following a move which involved Youssouf Mulumbu and James Morrison, the Scotsman picked out Jerome Thomas who laid it on for Odemwingie with the help of a slight ricochet off John Terry, the pass still found its intended target who sprinted into the area before deftly dinking the ball over the advancing Cech for his 12th of the season.

That goal set a new club record, beating the previous best by Rob Earnshaw six years earlier, and also stunned a Blues side which had enjoyed rich spells of possession.

However the home side's lead lasted only a few minutes as Scott Carson failed to deal with a low cross into the six-yard box from the left and an attempted clearance from Shorey at the far post fell into the path of Drogba who rifled home for his 13th goal of the season.

Four minutes later Chelsea turned the game on its head with another helping hand from Carson. The former England international could only parry Drogba's long-range effort into Kalou who dragged his shot into the far corner.

On the stroke of half-time any hope amongst the home fans of a revival was curtailed as Chelsea put the points to bed when Lampard netted from the edge of the area.

Again the move was inspired by Drogba who cut short a promising Albion move and sprayed a searching ball down the left for Malouda to chase who played in Lampard and he drilled the ball past Carson.

More goals should have followed in the second half, initially seven minutes after the restart when Drogba spotted Carson off his line, only for a powerful dipping shot from 35 yards to land on the roof of the net.

Lampard, Kalou and Malouda all had chances to add to the tally but to no avail as the Baggies struggled to retain possession and failed to support Odemwingie on several occasions.

Vela came on to great effect for West Brom in place of Morrison, his pace made Chelsea's back four work more than they had all game in what was one-way traffic for large periods.

Torres came on late, however looked confidence-stricken as he found himself offside on many occasions and his touch was lacking, adding to a goalless drought of 871 minutes.

The Spain international did have the ball in the net, however, after rounding Carson but it was denied by the offside flag.

A mis-kick from 15 yards soon after caused great mirth amongst the home fans, highlighting Torres' woeful time in front of goal at present as Chelsea saw out the game in comfortable fashion.

Carlo - Squad not good enough

Carlo Ancelotti does not believe Chelsea require a major summer overhaul, but acknowledged the squad this season has not been good enough.

Chelsea are in danger of finishing this campaign empty-handed on the back of last year's Double success and Ancelotti's job as manager is under threat.

There are also question marks regarding the futures of several senior players at Stamford Bridge, with new contracts yet to be tabled to certain members of the squad.

However, after splashing out £75million on David Luiz and Fernando Torres in January, Ancelotti is not predicting a summer of change.

"I don't think there will be a lot of changes during the summer because we bought very important players in January, David Luiz and Torres," said Ancelotti.

"I don't think we need to have too many more changes."

Ancelotti had previously brought in Ramires and Yossi Benayounlast summer, but five experienced figures from last season's squad left Stamford Bridge.

With Chelsea trailing Manchester United by nine points in the title race, and having being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by the Premier League leaders, Ancelotti's lack of depth has been shown up.

The Italian feels injuries hit his squad at the wrong time of the season, commenting: "I don't think the squad was good enough this year.

"At the start of the season, we couldn't have envisaged having very important players out at the same time.

"We struggled to manage this - without Lampard, Drogba, Essien, Terry, Alex. It was very difficult.

"At a certain point in the season, we needed to put (Paulo) Ferreira in at centre-back because we'd lost all our other centre-backs.

"You cannot think at the beginning of the season that you would have all these players out. In the bad moments, it was difficult for us to move on without these players and I think it cost us quite a few points."
