Claim that Phra Dhammajayo releases birds at a follower’s home is a lie: Wat Dhammakaya

BANGKOK: -- Wat Dhammakaya issued a statement today (Tuesday) clarifying an image in the social media showing the temple’s abbot, Phra Dhammajayo, releasing birds from a cage while standing and denying a claim that the monk travelled in a car to release the birds at a follower’s home.

Phra Sanitwong Wutthawaso, public relations director of Wat Dhammakaya, said in the statement that the claim that the embattled abbot went to a follower’s house by car to release birds was a lie. He added that a complaint would be lodged with the police today against the person or persons responsible for spreading the lie in the social media.

Phra Sanitwong insisted that Phra Dhammajayo remains weak and sick and is suffering from diabetes and allergy besides extreme pains in the left leg which has made it impossible for him to perform his duties in the temple.

He said that the abbot had been advised by his doctor to take rest for about two months.

Meanwhile Mr Ong-art Thamnitha, spokesman of the followers of the embattled monk, clarified that no one in the temple had ever said that Phra Dhammachayo could not stand.

“He can walk but just for a few minutes otherwise he will hurt himself,” said the spokesman, adding that the abbot has been in this poor physical condition for years.

He insisted that the image in the social media showing Phra Dhammajayo releasing birds from a cage was taken in the temple’s compound and not at a follower’s home as falsely claimed.

There is a lesson here for the rich and famous in Thailand. Don't get caught because the caughtus virus is infectious and very incapacitating and the only cure is money and the statute of limitations. It doesn't discriminate, just look at the poor young red bull guy, a fit man in the prime of his life and all before him suddenly struck down in Singapore and now stranded in a foreign land to gravely ill to return home.

This is NOT HIM.... it's either his apparition or hologram of the abbot, not him......

we can get dozen lawyers and doctors to swear to it.....

If somebody will give me a large brown envelope, i will saying anything they want.

I do not for 1 minute believe all the b......it that his followers say.

His doctor will say anything they want him to as long as the envelope is big enough.

A temple has a "public relations director"?

A temple has a "public relations director"?

Shows just how much of a commercial business it is.

We wouldn't want anyone to loose face, especially as 95% of the country is devout Buddhistwai.gif

Seems contradictory to me.

First he can't attend because he's too busy with his religious duties. Then he's too ill to attend. Then he's so ill he can't perform his religious duties. Then he's been this ill for years.

Maybe I'm missing something.

Also many people can't walk at all but they can still travel using a wheelchair. Look at what Prof Stephen Hawking manages.

If the police find the person responsible for this report I suggest they say they are to busy to report to the police. Then too ill. ect ect.

It should be an easy matter to identify the temple's compound if the birds were indeed released in the compound as asserted by the PR officer. Seems to be an easily identifiable background.

That's ridiculous. It makes better sense to put a warrant out for their arrest as material witnesses. After detaining the likely suspects keep them (any white doves) in custody until they sing the right words to charge them for aiding and abetting in the delay of what at this point appears to still be an investigation/ inquest that almost looks like might start a civil war with about 100,000 followers.

What if the unthinkable in Thailand were to happen and somewhere along the way with the Abbott, some carefree driver slammed into his vehicle and caused him to die, or more likely if he does from complications related to stress at his age even without the diabetes and DVT. Which from my knowledge involves a clot that if breaks free at any given time can be disastrous.

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) occurs when a blood clot (thrombus) forms in one or more of the deep veins in your body, usually in your legs. Deep vein thrombosis can cause leg pain or swelling, but may occur without any symptoms.

Deep vein thrombosis can develop if you have certain medical conditions that affect how your blood clots. Deep vein thrombosis can also happen if you don't move for a long time, such as after surgery, following an accident, or when you are confined to a hospital or nursing home bed.

Deep vein thrombosis is a serious condition because blood clots in your veins can break loose, travel through your bloodstream and lodge in your lungs, blocking blood flow (pulmonary embolism).

Send in the BOYS.. a job awaits on this SOP..

CRIME OF THE CENTURY...releasing birds at followers home...what is the world coming to? Can not make this kind of insanity up...

No wonder people use all manner of stuff to escape into a fantasy world...drugs, alcohol, video games, cell phones...and ThaiVisa...

Surely this Monk should be skinned and quartered...at a bare minimum...for this gross infraction...

Maybe read up before commenting. This is not about the birds but about his ability to move around.

The Thai police can't even find the temple, let alone this one compound.

Temple? I thought it was a laundrette.

Somebody very important will die and you won't know about it for days or weeks. Who knows, it could even be months or years?

This "embattled" monk is almost untouchable.
