Over 41,000 households in 56 provinces damaged by summer thunderstorms

BANGKOK, 18 May 2016 (NNT) – Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) director general Chatchai Phromlert revealed that tens of thousands of households in many provinces nationwide have been damaged by summer thunderstorms between April 1 and May 15, 2016.

A total of 41,831 households in 56 provinces in the North, Northeast, East, South and Central regions have been damaged so far by summer thunderstorms and hail storms. Of the 56 provinces ravaged by the thunderstorms, 20 are in the Northeast.

Local department officials have prepared equipment to help the affected villagers and monitored the situation around the clock. Fast-moving units have been on standby so that the officials will be able to provide immediate assistance to the victims.

Requests for assistance can be made by calling Hotline 1784 around the clock.
