I'm interested to do something on Doi Suthep on this auspicious night, and wondering if I can get the flavour but not do the normal walk coming back in the middle of the wee morning hours.

I can cycle up DS but normally would never do this at night.......but are there enough lanterns to light things up.

Is one allowed to cycle?

How about going up the path to Wat Palaad before dark and coming back down the road on foot.

Or getting well torched up (friend has super-LED-headlight for bike, maybe I'll get one) and doing a return trip to WP coming back down the path in the dark.

One could then hang out at the road above WP a while to absorb the vibe.

(Have done about ten minutes in dark before with normal small light.....scary on rocks)

So

Are bikes allowed?

Are cars allowed?

or is it just a partial walk to get back at a normalise time?

ps in the event bikes can go does everyone walk up one side?

I went for a quite challenging (by my 67yo standards) bike ride via Doi Kom instead......heard the number of people doing DS made everything except the full walk up and down difficult.

Cyclists will be sad to hear someone died doing Doi Kom last week. RIP.

I cycled up doisuthep on the following morning last year not knowing about the event, road was hectic, rubbish everywhere, saw another cyclist get a puncture from all the broken glass and stuff on the road
