Applying short-term ED Visa (for internship) from Kuala Lumpur

Featured Replies

Hello!

I think I need some advice and help...

Has anybody applied for ED Visa (for short term internship) from Malaysia - Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur? (I have the Visa Invitation Letter from the internship company). Would you suggest applying it there? Has anybody had any problems with the application process etc there?

Also, I'm not quite sure which documents I should provide together with my Visa application, because the information I found on Royal Thai Embassy of Kuala Lumpur's website is not very clear for me...

I believe that some of the mentioned things here apply to the Malaysians only:

I understand that I need to submit:

1. Original passport valid not less than 6 months with a copy of information page(s)
2. Visa application form duly filled out with one 4x6 cm. sized photograph (white / blue background taken within the past 6 months)
3. Original letter from the organizer of Meeting in Thailand requests for visa address to the Embassy. (I guess my Visa Invitation Letter will work?)
4. Original Letter from the Bank and bank statement. (Does anyone know how much I should have in my bank account?)

Are there any other documents I may be missing here?
I read from some places that I need to submit my hotel booking confirmations and plane tickets in and out from Thailand as well. Is that true? What if the internship company is providing accomodation?

Thank you for everybody who can help! :)

Are you a citizen or permanent resident of Malaysia ?

If not stay away from KL you have been given poor advise.

So, it's hard/problematic to apply it from Malaysia?

Where would you suggest me to apply for it besides Laos? (I'm currently in Thailand with Tourist Visa).

Thank you!!

If you do not wish to go to Laos you could try Penang.

Please note. I did not say "Malaysia" was problematic but I did suggest the Embassy in KL may be.

You may be able to get one in Penang Malaysia. See: Penang requiremts.pdf
