Hello,

I intend to apply for a tourist visa from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I would like to know if it would be acceptable to submit my cousin's bank statement as well as a letter from his bank as proof specifying that he can bear funds for the entirety of my stay in Thailand. Since my cousin would like to pay for my trip, would I be able to be granted a visa by providing his bank statement as well as a bank solvency letter? I do not have a bank account. However, I did visit Thailand last year with my family. I've e-mailed the Thai embassy regarding this and I have not heard back and they do not answer their phone either. Since flight reservations as well as hotel reservations are on the pre-visa application checklist, I would like to be sure before making purchases only to find out that I cannot be granted a visa merely because I do not have a bank account. I would appreciate your response very much as I haven't been able to find this information anywhere online.

Thank you in advance.

Not aware of what Dhaka embassy's requirements are (website address is not valid). Not all embassies will want a bank statement. Some will not want any financial proof or only need to show the equivalent of 20k baht.

I am certain your cousin would need to write a statement that he will be supporting your trip in order to show his bank account info.

Perhaps try calling them. Contact info from MFA website follows.

Try contacting VFS Global: http://www.vfsglobal.com/Thailand/Bangladesh/Tourist_Visa.html

According to VFS an employer would be an acceptable sponsor but they make no mention of family members.

Evidence of adequate finance e.g. Current Bank Solvency and Bank Statement of the last 6 months with satisfactory transaction (at least 20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family or 60,000 Taka per person and 120,000 Taka per family). Only original Bank Statement and Bank Solvency Letter are acceptable. Statement and Bank Solvency LetterIn case of the applicant is sponsored by his/her company and the company are submitted, trade license has to be attached.
Royal Thai Embassy reserves the right to request for the applicant’s personal Bank Statement.
