Popular Post snoop1130 Posted May 22 Popular Post Posted May 22 Picture courtesy of Warong Dechgitvigrom Facebook In a move that's capturing public attention in Thailand, an aide to Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsutin has requested the Medical Council of Thailand to submit crucial documents concerning former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's hospital treatment. The documents are essential to assess the conduct of three doctors facing discipline for allegedly misrepresenting Thaksin's medical condition, which allowed him to serve his prison sentence in a VIP hospital suite. On Wednesday, Vice-minister Thanakrit Jitareerat issued a 15-day deadline for the council to provide these documents. Prompt submission could see the 10-member review committee, which is reassessing the council’s findings, reconvene soon, possibly concluding discussions this week. However, further delays would push back proceedings to Monday. Minister Somsak, as honorary chairman of the council, will receive all opinions expressed at the meeting. He holds the power to either accept or reject the council’s proposal for disciplinary action. His decision, due by May 30, could either uphold the disciplinary measures or necessitate an explanation for any veto, a task still at his discretion. Should he reject the council’s resolution, it will require a two-thirds majority vote of the full 70-member Medical Council board to override his decision. Mr Thanakrit emphasised accountability and transparency, noting that the review committee is working strictly within the bounds of available documentation and not accepting external input. The missing documents pertain to initial complaints and necessary procedural details, critical for deliberation. The case has drawn significant public scrutiny, particularly highlighting the involvement of a potentially biased committee member. Mr Thanakrit underscored the importance of an open-minded approach and maintained that the committee, composed of legal and medical professionals, is dedicated to fair evaluation without political influence. Thaksin returned to Thailand in August 2023 after 15 years in exile. Originally sentenced to eight years for abuse of power, his sentence was reduced by royal clemency to one year. Medical issues led to his transfer from prison to Police General Hospital, where he spent six months in a VIP suite, reportedly at his own expense. As the investigation continues, the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions is set to begin an inquiry next month into whether Thaksin's sentence was adequately enforced. This inquiry will hear evidence from Thaksin and his daughter, current Premier Paetongtarn, offering more insights into this high-profile case. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Bangkok Post 2025-05-22 1 1 2

That ain't happening as the uneducated crowds believe that, this the 3rd round of this family in charge will be better... They don't see that sure, as farmers they got a little bit more money from their schemes... but prices on (buying/renting) land, seeds and agro chemicals went up so much that in the end they had less money left in their hands... and instead supporting the all mighty company that in some provinces control 95% of the food market... Same, about 90% of my Thai friends think that legalising cannabis was great, and they don't support the move to build casinos in Thailand... but somehow they still support this governmet?! I think it all comes down to the pieces of "purple and brown paper" they were handed for attending political rallies before the election...
newbee2022 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 High time now to fabricate the required documents. Probably a 24/7 job.😂
Sydebolle Posted May 23 Posted May 23 After yesterday's nail into the Shinawatra coffin the next nail and hammer are waiting to be presented in 15 days - it seems. The Shinawatras have outstayed their welcome, Thaksin glued the latest coalition government together with his influence on Pheu Thai to keep the younger generation and their parties out of the race and hence became useless. His additional meddling in present state affairs, directly or indirectly through his daughter (another innocent child on the political stage of Thailand, like her auntie before) did not help to mend the rift. So Yingluck is cornered nicely, Thaksin might run out of support and aid which will isolate the present prima-inter-pares even more. Dissolving the house, new election and the Buriramers will have it their way while some owners of ranches in Khao Yai are waiting in the wings like vultures to feast on their long-awaited trophy. Let's see; interesting summer again 😉
TheFishman1 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I don’t think anything is gonna happen to this guy he has learned all of them TIT 1
FarangJon Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Yes, yes, the good old Thaksin family. All innocent. Always have been.
newnative Posted May 23 Posted May 23 And, in 15 days there will be another delay. Keep kicking that can down the road.
sambum Posted May 23 Posted May 23 "Minister Somsak, as honorary chairman of the council, will receive all opinions expressed at the meeting. He holds the power to either accept or reject the council’s proposal for disciplinary action." Hmm! I would suspect that all bets are off on that one!

Anutan legalized dope, friends from the north east said there were fields of it growing b4 the legislation was passed. Maybe they could use some of this money to pay the rice farmers back, and get them growing hooch, Give Thaksin's daughter a full pardon, no need for silly neck braces
