13 hour overstay

Featured Replies

I've read a lot of conflicting information regarding one day overstay and was hoping to get some clarification. Due to an error on my part my flight leaves at 1:30 pm 5/28 while my visa exemption expires 5/27. I assume I will be facing a 500 baht fine but will I be facing a ban?

No ban

I'm sure if you depart from a Airport you are not charged for the first day, other posters will be able to confirm this

  • If you are leaving from one of the major International Airports the fine will be waived, but you will probably still have an overstay stamp in your passport.

There is no ban for a 1 day overstay when surrendering at the airport.

No fine. No ban but a small overstay stamp.

Thank you for the prompt responses. This really settled my anxiety. What happens at land borders for this situation?

500 Baht fine, red stamp in the passport (just saying you overstayed 1 day)

That's all that will happen on the border also.

You'd be fined 500 baht for the 1 day overstay. No ban.

Noone cares. At all. No ban at all. If at land borers, you'll just be fined 500 baht and waived on within a few minutes. At airports, mot likely you will not even be fined.

Nothing to worry about.
