But when I was younger I saw a huge disadvantage in "character": you cannot touch it!

Took me years to find out that beauty fades and that "inner values" stay (I do not mind that my wife looks very attractive, though, I guess, I was simply lucky ).

I think the 3 in the middle numbers 20-22 look quite acceptable.

Yes, it is a fact universally acknowledged that beauty pageants are a very serious matter and of highest relevance for...what was it..., right, world peace.

Yeah. From these finalist there will be crowned a miss world like most years. Truthfully we all know Thailand has some of the most beautiful women in the world, if not the best. Somehow they never seem to win the final. Why is that?

Also to add to the fact that the judges pick the pasty white, unnatural Thai look that appeals to Thais but nobody else in the world, then you will probably never get a Miss world from Thailand. (just Thailand and not from mixed Thai and other nationalities. A crying shame IMHO.

A cursory glance at the negative posters will verify that the old guys are happily ensconced with younger ladies in Thailand and the disillusioned posters are the young fellows without the means to travel or stay in Thailand hence the jealous negative feelings. I've always had the means to afford attractive young women and I live in Thailand because I like Thai women. I can see how one could get grumpy living in a cold wet climate with only internet dating sites to satisfy his cravings for an attractive slim woman. It must be rough to see all the happy pensioners with the potential Miss World's on their arm on the way to the Som Tom shop as you sit in front of the telly eating deep fried mars bars and ground cow intestines.

Therein lies the problem.

I worked over 20 years in the fashion business.

And I can tell how it goes.

Beauty is indeed a totally subjective thing.

But if old bags pull the strings in the background it is poor.

The evaluation of beauty as a democratic process, there has never been.

A preset beauty ideal is always bad.

As to the question of external beauty, i'm a foodie, and imagining that I have a certain level of expertise to offer.

And in Thailand, there are a lot of very beautiful women.

But the selection system is not without bias, unfortunately it is influenced by many forces.

The last Miss Universe from Thailand was Porntip Nakhirunkanok (1988).
