denis911
Not sure if folks on here or elsewhere are aware, but you are no longer able to post anything by ThaiPost unless you take either your driving licence, ID card or passport with you, another piece of useless bureaucracy dreamed up to cause longer cues at the counters ( No idea how they are going to police the Post boxes, maybe have someone at each one to check your ID )
pgrahmm
Not so sure it's useless..... There are many with illegal side or fulltime businesses shipping/selling from Thailand......Probably more than that being posted out in illegal substances with the steady influx of foreign crime syndicates/gangs coming here..... Probably a small first step in tracking & rooting them out.....

lungbing
I have just this afternoon posted two birthday cards to Scotland without any ID. Whether they get there or not in another question. I suspect ID is required if you send the post by registered mail.
fiddlehead
I sent a box back to the US yesterday. No ID asked for. All seemed normal and the same as last time I sent something. Where did you hear this?

CharlieH
This has been posted and discussed many times, yes, it is a national policy adopted by the Thai post Office. Although as with many things, it isnt or doesnt seem to be applied everywhere. I personally had to produce a passport to send in my 90 day report.
