Bangkok Bombing Suspects' Interpreter Says Cops Plant Drugs on Him

Does anyone know if you get two urine samples taken….one for the defence to be tested in an independent lab, and the other one for the police for testing in the police lab? The police lab always gets the 'correct' results as we know. Might be an idea to get an extra sample taken and sealed if you are ever in this situation.

^^Sums up the Thai way perfectly.

Thailand is slowly becoming the laughing stock of the thinking world.

Sad thing is they don't seem to know or care.

Thais never have and never will care about what the world thinks about them,

You have obviously not been here very long if you think otherwise

BANGKOK — An interpreter for the two men accused of carrying out last year’s deadly Bangkok bombing will be taken to court as a defendant Friday to face his own criminal complaint on charges he says were manufactured.

Uzbek national Sirojiddin Bakhodirov will be taken to Bangkok South Criminal Court on Friday after his arrest Wednesday for possessing narcotics which came not long after he helped interpret between English and Uighur for the Erawan Shrine bombing suspects at a hearing in their own trial for the August blast.

You are right sir,Thailand marches to a different drum beat. It is the drum beat of "Self Enrichment" no matter what the cost of face.Actually in this matter they tell themselfs that other nations know nothing about Thailand so their opinions does not count.

I could very well be wrong—I have been before—but my opinion, based on decades of observing the RTP:

  • only the RTP would be invested enough in the case to try to stop a (presumably) independent interpreter from assisting these suspects;
  • only the RTP would be stupid enough to miss the point that said interpreter is also assisting them;
  • only the RTP would bash the interpreter and threaten him with deportation (in the history of all warning-bashings has any civilian ever thought that threatening someone with something they have no power to do—i.e. deport them? The very thought is preposterous!);
  • only the RTP would be arrogant enough to think that the public would believe that someone working closely with police in arguably one of the highest profile cases in the kingdom would even be using marijuana and crystal meth, let alone wandering the streets with it on his person.

As Caveat Emptor wrote, the RTP have brought these well-founded suspicions upon themselves.

So if you can get past your starting point that the RTP are inherently stupid, it doesn't make much sense does it.

How can an interpreter weaken their case?

If they did want him gone, why not simply deport him for overstay?

YOU think that someone appearing in court 4 days/month wouldn't be using drugs, or making self-serving statements such as helping the Thai justice system will get him 7 years jail if deported. On what evidence?

You'd think that someone appearing in court 4 days/month and working for the State as an intepreter would have been deported immediately for an overstay that would have also invalidated his work permit (assuming he had one). But he wasn't deported as you notice.

No, up until his testimony of attack and threats did the government seemed to accept his questionable residence status. It seems only after his testimony did the government decide he was expendable.

What testimony? He made CLAIMS of assault after he was arrested for drug possession. As of yet, there have been no moves to deport him. Who says he can't still work as an interpreter while incarcerated?
