BANGKOK, 2 June 2016 (NNT) – A new Blue Flag Fair has been kicked off by the Ministry of Commerce, building on the success of its “Noo Nit… Taste Tour”, which garnered the participation of 10,000 food sellers from across the nation in a discount program.

The vendors have agreed to sell cooked meals at no more than 35 baht a dish, or 20-40 percent less than market value at a new Ministry of Commerce event, titled “Blue Flag Fair, Noo Nit Satisfies Every Appetite”, taking place today to June 5 at Impact, Muang Thong Thani.

Commerce Minister Apiradee Tantraporn said that the earlier program to assemble discounted food sellers, which kicked off in 2014, reached its target of 10,000 participants.

Together they offer a viable choice for low-income earners to maintain their daily expenses. Among the food sellers are also retailers of essential goods such as rice, sugar and eggs, all selling their products at discounted prices.

The five day event expects to see 150,000 visitors and to knock off 40-50 million baht in daily living costs.

The Department of Internal Trade has kept its “Noo Nit… Taste Tour” program open for food sellers willing to bring down their prices. Participants are connected to low cost material sources to aid them in keeping their prices down.

"Participants are connected to low cost material sources to aid them in keeping their prices down." Could we have a little more info on this? Source might be government, and prices lower than "market value" due to difference made up by taxpayers? Brilliant plan: drive out of business those suppliers who have to deal in real marketplace of supply and demand.

So all the poor people who really need the help are expected to drive their cars there to buy these things? Or maybe just load all their groceries on the bus?
