Going to Vientiane Twice?

Featured Replies

I need to do another visa run, the first one I made was in Savannakhet, and the most recent one was in Vientiane. So both were made in Laos, and this would be twice in a row I'd be going to Vientiane. I've been in Thailand a total of a year. Are there any problems here?

EDIT: Also, is Mae Sot still an option?

You should not have a problem getting another tourist visa in Vientiane.

You can do a border crossing for a new entry at Mae Sot if you have a valid Thai visa for re-entry.

Check with Thaivisa services as they now offer a visa run to Phenom Phen.

Unfortunately you have to stay at a hotel at the border while they do the visa for you.

Just another option for you to consider.

Are there any southern visa run options? I plan on heading to the islands afterwards.

I.E. Penang. Is this still a visa run option??

Penang has been a favored location for a long time. Based on a recent report, you would be advised to use an agent, as they gave another poster a hard time when he applied in person, based on the fact he had been in Thailand continuously for more than 6 mo prior to applying. I used Bananna guesthouse (agent) a couple weeks ago, and had no problem with 9 mo worth of previous (Laos issued) Thai visas in my passport.

Going to Laos for all your Tourist Visas will eventually result in a "red" or "blue" stamp saying it may be the last time they give you one there, even if you leave Thailand for months at a time between them (I speak from personal experience).
