About 30,000 liters of LPG is still being transferred from the overturned truck to a new one in western Bangkok Friday morning.

BANGKOK — Authorities are still trying to move 30,000 liters of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) out of an overturned 18-wheel truck on Baromrajchonnee Road Friday morning.

Police at Thammasala Police Station were notified about the incident at 6am Friday. The truck was found crashed into a road sign in the outbound lane of Baromrajchonnee Road, a route used for travelling between Bangkok and Nakhon Pathom province. Some of the highly flammable gas leaked out of the truck.

No blame seems to have been apportioned as of yet. No " faulty brakes, rainy conditions, sleepy driver". We shall find out soon no doubt. Hopefully, the driver is not too badly injured.

And if Somchai passing in his 'Tuner flicks his cigarette but out the driver's window..........?

In Thailand who does the job they are paid for with out making problems for innocent people ,monks don't ,police don't ,government don't ,bus drivers don't ,lorry drivers don't taxis don't and on and on

The wet stuff is probably petrol/diesel or LPG on the way to evaporate. In any way it should be highly flammable. A miracle that the whole place is not on fire.

this must be just after it occured as obviously the traffic is still flowing !!!Not a major incident yet then!!!!

Another Professional Thai truck driver showing off his excellent driving skills.......

Ehh...

Never heard of liquid water?

.

Everybody -except the driver - had been lucky, it was only diesel leaking. Horrible thaught of 30'000 litres of liquid gas exploding.. They closed Boromratchonnani in both directions for a few hours which lead to a heavy congestion.

Here's a picture of the wet stuff coming out of a fireman's hose, possibly to dilute the diesel fuel, if it was indeed diesel, on an LPG tanker?

Wet stuff is indeed water from the fire man, maybe diesel from the truck being diluted and washed away. NOT a good idea, Diesel is nasty stuff in a waterway. LPG is a liquid gas, it will boil unpressurized . Those tanks are very tough, if one ruptures you will have a disaster on a large scale. Good to see the Thai drivers testing them reguarly

Can we assume the Thai drivers are tested as regularly as their tankers?rolleyes.gifsmile.png

Interesting you mention that, "Flick his cigarette".

Reminds me of the inferno on Soi Asoke decades ago when gasoline trucks following in convoy crashed into each other and everryhting was fine, till some idiot lighted his cigarette and flick the match. The rest is history.

The law was changed then that fuel tankers were not allowed to travel in convoy.

Such is life in LOS

Why is this news? Loads are spilled all over Thailand everyday...wai2.gif

For the record LPG is known in the industry as Condensate and is roughly 10 times more flammable than benzene. Just a point of interest for anyone who may be interested

Some very brave people in the OP picture, (or more probably just oblivious to the risk), personally I would not want to be within a mile or so of there.

Damn, which school of perfection did you go to??

Settle down with the negativity, so far it is an "accident" which has been reported. How about we wait before condemning the whole bloody nation ??

OK goody two shoes, give it your best shot now, have a coffee, cheer up and book a ticket home if you can afford it.

You pay a price for perfection, the developed world and it's expensive way of life is the result, you get what you pay for.

Don't tell me it was raining?? Rain is responsible for so may road deaths in Thailand. Can PM Prayuth please order the rain to fall In the drought stricken areas rather than on the roads. That way many lives will be saved.

And if Somchai passing in his 'Tuner flicks his cigarette but out the driver's window..........?

That reminds me of the dynamite truck that crashed in about 1990.

All was well until some of the locals decided to see if there was anything worth having "off the back of a lorry" so to speak.

The number one general failing of Thai culture is lack of any sense of responsibility. This includes doing a job they are responsible for or taking responsibility for any mistake or failure. The extreme example of this is the regular conspiracy by officials to invent excuses to prevent blame from being carried by anyone so no-one loses face.

Diesel from the trucks on gas tank. LPG in the tank.

Water from where? The fire brigade was not present when this photo was taken.

The fire brigade were not on the scene when the first photo was taken. And the truck does not seem to have any gas tanks for its own consumption (they are normally located right behind the drivers cabin.

The spill in the OP picture seems to have the rainbow sheen associated with diesel.

If you like big bangs, try this lot.

Has a slight pause in the middle - more to come.
