Tropical Storm Colin forms over the Gulf of Mexico, heads to Florida

MIAMI: -- A tropical cyclone that formed near the tip of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula has strengthened into Tropical Storm Colin, forecasters say, prompting a tropical storm warning for parts of Florida where it is expected to make landfall.

First meeting of committee to protect the monarchy held

BANGKOK, 6 June 2016 (NNT) – The Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office has chaired a meeting of a committee tasked with protecting the institution of the monarchy.


PM’s Office Minister ML Panadda Diskul has chaired the first gathering of the committee for the prosecution and prevention of crimes against the monarchy, which was attended by representatives from relevant ministries.

The meeting acknowledged all members of the committee and their recent work. The ministerial representatives gave reports to ML Panadda and were tasked with submitting a monthly detailing to his office. The committee recently opened a hotline at 1765 alongside a website and Facebook page handled by the Ministry of Culture to allow for tip offs on crimes against the monarchy. The Ministry of Justice has been tasked with handling cases taken on by the committee as well as with promoting understanding of its work and the institution of the monarch.

Nearly all coral off Nai Yang beach damaged by bleaching, say Phuket divers

PHUKET: -- Divers from the Naiyang Reef Club have discovered a large amount of coral, off Nai Yang Beach which they say has been damaged by bleaching. The discovery was made by the group during a clean up exercise of the seabed which was carried out yesterday (June 5).

Dhammakaya followers demand Thammasat to take action against the temple’s critic

PHUKET: -- Police arrested a man from Patong yesterday evening (June 5) when he was found to be in possession of 698.5 grams of crystal meth (ya ice). During questioning, the man told police he bought the drugs from a man named Chanon who police are now on the hunt for.
