BANGKOK: -- It was a change to the usual accident story. A taxi driver fled the scene as a tree wavered in high winds, getting out just in time before his cab was crushed.

Lucky driver Sanan Janthop told Bang Seu police, called to the area near a PTT station on Kamphaengphet Road, Bangkok on Sunday evening, that he was stuck in heavy traffic reported Thairath.

"I had just taken a passenger to JJ Mall," said 57 year old Sanan. "I needed gas and was going to turn into the PTT station when I saw a big queue and decided to fill up elsewhere. I was stuck in the traffic and I saw the tree leaning in the wind. I couldn't drive out of the way so I decided to jump out and avoid injury."

The tree crushed the passenger compartment of the Toyota Altis cab. Traffic piled up for several kilometres as police dealt with other fallen trees and branches in the area after high winds and rains lashed Bangkok.

If he weren't pointing, I'd never have guessed that that was the tree in question...

Reporter to Thai man: Just stand over there and point at the tree would you please? So everyone knows which tree fell on your car and don't think it was some completely different tree up the road or somewhere.

I rang 1567 but they told me I dialled the building about to collapse line.

The right number they told me was 1568 to report a tree is about to fall down .

Damn it I was to late!?

Lucky man.

When i read the headline, i thought here we go again.

Yes i can admit i was wrong.

It's alright, we understand why you thought that way at first :)

The tree was later taken into custody and charged with criminal damage and attempted murder.

Misleading headline much? Sure, clickbait, but there is still such a thing about staining your reputation (in general, not specific to this publisher) with inaccurate things like that /smh

Or maybe he said, while pointing, holy lsdnbfshfgosrf, look at my car!!!

Nahhh, that would be too normal for TV.

Yeah, sure, Bub. The reporter just happened to be there and have his camera pointed in the right direction. Very fortuitous, indeed.
