Oxx Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 No, not a missing line from The Sound of Music's "My Favourite Things", but a problem. The new puppy likes to defecate on a pebbled area. However, his faeces are very soft, and just impossible to pick up fully. I can hose down the area, but the pebbles are on top of a membrane, so the faeces just lies there. What can I do to help with the smell which is getting quite bad? Suggestions I've come up with and rejected are:- EM (Effective Microorganisms). It contains sugar, so will attract ants- Activated charcoal. It will stain the pebbles. So, what should I use? Bleach? Dettol? Vinegar? Sodium bicarbonate? Something else? Thanks.
wayned Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I use a mixture of bleach to disinfect and liquid floor soap for smell with water in a spray bottle for the oops on the tile floor. Outside on pebbles I just use water but there is no membrane underneath only earth. I guess that it would work on the pebbles with the membrane.
Goldieinkathu Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Some ammonia should do it, I think it would put him off from doing it in that area. I understand that ammonia is in the small containers used for people who faint here in Thailand so you will find it in the chemists ( used like smelling salts) .A few drops should do it as it's really strong stuff.
