Can you extend a tourist visa early?

Featured Replies

Hey,

I need to go for the 30-day extension towards the end of the month.

If I went now would be extra 30 days start from now, or would they get added to the end when my first 2 months are supposed to run out?

Thanks

The extension will start from the end of your current 60 day entry.

You can do it a couple of weeks early at most immigration offices.

Yes

I stay near Rama 2. Must I go to Chaeng wattana to extend mine? Or is there a closer place?

If you have a Bangkok address Chaeng Wattana is the only office you can use.

As always .... especially in a case like this, make sure you check the "leave by" date before you leave the desk. I went early not too long ago and the officer gave me 30 days from application date. I mentioned it and added that I was leaving before the new leave by date so it didn't matter. Left with a thanks and a smile anyway. She was pretty nonplussed - I don't know if it was because I didn't make a stink, or she hadn't realized the mistake until I mentioned it.

It's an easy enough mistake when you're messing around with stamps and dates and numbers and different lengths of stay and entitlements and retirement, ed, tr etc all day.

May you be in and out as fast as I was. wai.gif
