Private sector predicts stimulus measures will bear fruit in 2nd half of year

BANGKOK, 7 June 2016 (NNT) - Sahapat Chairman Boonsithi Chokwatana has remarked that the government’s stimulus measures would take effect in the middle half of 2016 to help stimulate the purchasing power of consumers.

The Sahapat chairman on Monday said the purchasing power would rebound to a normal level in the last two quarters this year and sales of food products had started to increase. Sales of other products were expected to grow as a consequence, said the chairman.

President of Saha Pathana Inter-Holding Chantra Purnariksha said the 20th Saha Group Fair, scheduled for 30 June – 3 July 2016 in Bangkok, would sell consumer products, clothes, cosmetics and home appliances from the Sahapat Group at special prices. The fair will use digital technology to facilitate customers such as QR code and electronic payment.

How come we always see these statements predicting the future, but never reflecting the past?

In reality the economy is screwed.

Got less to do with the junta’s so-called stimulus measures, and more to do with the end of the El Niño and the breaking of the drought.

Farmers should finally start to get some money back in their pockets, and Thai people generally will start to have more confidence in their future (and be more willing to spend).

This year, next year, sometime. never.

Always tomorrow. never today.

In reality the economy is screwed.

Went into the local town today. I don't think I've seen people seeming more depressed. Moist people I spoke to have just had enough, and are fed up. Something isn't right.

Returning happiness to the people? These people were happy enough 2 years ago. Now they're not. Work it out for yourself.

Is this prediction based on chickens, trees, stones, elephants, dogs......?

Reminds of that famous song,

"Happy Days are Here Next Quarter".

January 2016 - Deputy Prime Minister for economic affairs Somkid Jatusripitak said the key factor undermining Thailand's competitiveness is political instability.....Somkid delivered his policy to 65 trade ambassadors, adding that he will not revise down the export target from 5% growth, despite concerns for the global economy. He claimed the Thai economy has a solid foundation.

Thailand's economy has a foundation without any pilings.
