General Prawit assures police reshuffle list is free from military interference

THAILAND -- The National Council for Peace and Order has never interfered with the annual police reshuffle for the 2015 budgetary year which was marred with several mistakes, said Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan on Tuesday.

A mistake emerged in the latest reshuffle list with one police officer facing lese majeste charge given promotion.

General Prawit attributed the latest error and previous mistakes such as the name of a dead police officer appeared on the reshuffle list to the fact that there were so many names in the list.

He went on saying that there were people who were satisfied with the reshuffle list and also people who were disappointed, hence, the criticisms when the errors were exposed.

He, however, noted that the national police chief, Pol Gen Chakthip Chaichinda, would be solely held accountable for the errors.

The annual police reshuffle involved 7,849 police officers. However, it was discovered that 215 names on the list were duplicated and 270 names were promoted to the same positions and one name of a dead police officer.

"Several mistakes". Wasnt it over 400 or about 1 in 16.

Maybe he meant several hundred mistakes?

486 errors out of 7,849.

That's 6.19%.

Nobody checked for errors?

So in this case the buck for the normal failure of the Thai bureaucracy stops with National Police Chief, Pol Gen Chakthip Chaichinda, He will be immediately struck from the brown envelope database and his receipts will be re-allocated elsewhere. Higher up no doubt.

What's everyone getting so upset about?

"There were so many names in the list." whistling.gif

Seems like a valid excuse.

Must have been a daunting task... facepalm.gif

yea like everybody will believe him

In other news today, researchers at Chiang Mai University announced development of an entirely new type of software. Based on the concepts of "rows" and "columns", the software may solve many data processing problems, such as production of lists that do not contain errors.

The researchers have called this invention Visicalc. It is expected to be available for use in 2018.

It'll never catch on unless there's a pop-up calculator and some means of predicting which row/column number is next.

That aside, the Thai market ought to be... oh... 2 or 3 hundred copies - easily.

"The National Council for Peace and Order has never interfered with the annual police reshuffle"

Given they have interfered with just about anything else, this is hardly worth mentioning if at all accurate.

Kwaistone Cops.

The police reshuffle should be interfered with so it is based on merit, honesty, integrity, without cronyism or money changing hands as is often inferred.

No interference , believe that you will believe anything, I have yet to find the truth in ANY Government statement about anything .

"We will not interfere" is Military speak for: "You better do it in a way that makes us happy or else.....".....

Why is it every time this guy shows up It prompts a flashback to reading that Orwell book? Hmmm, can't quite remember...think it was "something...Farm". Not sure.

If there is no reason to suspect any wrongdoing there would be no reason to make the statement.

The National Council for Peace and Order has never interfered with the annual police reshuffle

True. Not directly but indirectly.

It has been the Board of Police that appointed of Somyot as Police Commissioner in 2014 and of Chakthip in 2015.

Since the May 2014 military coup, Prayut has been the Chairman of the Board with Gen Prawit as Vice Chairman.

The police reshuffle should be interfered with so it is based on merit, honesty, integrity, without cronyism or money changing hands as is often inferred.

Pure fantasy

The problem with shuffling - something at which I'm sure Prawit is a master - is whether the subsequent dealing is from the top of the pack ... or the bottom.
