IMF: 2016 Thai economic growth will reach 3%

BANGKOK, 9 June 2016 (NNT) - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has concluded its evaluation of the Thai economy in 2016 and predicted that this year’s growth rate will reach 3%.

The Bank of Thailand (BoT) on Wednesday announced the results of the IMF’s outlook for the Thai economy. The IMF said the Thai economy recovered in 2015 after it slowed down in 2014 due to the political crisis.

The 2015 Thai economy grew by 2.8% mainly due to monetary easing measures and the public sector’s spending. The IMF also predicted that the Thai economy would gradually recover and grow by 3% in 2016 and 3.2% in 2017.

The IMF however cautioned Thailand against the fragility of the global economy, instability of the Thai politics as well as limitations of the Thai economic structure.

Thailand’s strong economic foundation can help the Thai economy cope with challenges from inside and outside of the country, said the IMF.

Thailand’s international reserves and current account surplus are still high while foreign debt and public debt are low.

I think they forgot to write other important statements

Only good news here please, no need to worry about the warnings on fiscal policy, rates etc. They clearly don't understand Thailand.

......he said....she said....

...never any verifiable quotes......with names.....

IMF also stated in article IMF Urges Thailand Rate Cuts That Central Bank Says Not Needed, “There is scope for further monetary easing ... A negative output gap, falling consumer prices and downside risks “warrant additional monetary accommodation” But BoT has to remain behind Prayut's plan and cutting rates again might harm Thailand's reputation.

I think the IMF has been on the BS list for quite some time now but never the less I will mark 3% on the December 31 spot on my calendar and see how correct they where. One flashing BS indicator was the statement about low household debt. The object of the IMF the World Bank and other Fed controlled institutions is to talk up the world economy
