June 10, 201610 yr 43,000 deaths a year, and here we are thinking thailand was bad Yes, it is a lot but, remember Brazil has three times the population of Thailand.
June 10, 201610 yr ....23.4 fatalities per 100,000 in Brazil.... ....36.2 fatalities per 100,000 in Thailand...
June 10, 201610 yr ....23.4 fatalities per 100,000 in Brazil.... ....36.2 fatalities per 100,000 in Thailand... Whatever the comparison - it shows the carelessness of both Countries governments with regards to combatting road safety. Both countries are corrupt and have an elite with decision making powers that remain largely unaffected by any of these road deaths. Until those in power are no longer insulated from their failure to tackle these issues the tragedies will continue without genuine governmental concern with the exception of the odd 'crackdown' paying media lip-service.
June 10, 201610 yr in Brasil they rode horses not too long ago, in thailand they drove buffalos not too long ago. Now they are driving expensive and powerful machines. Something is bound to go wrong.

June 10, 201610 yr It might also help if everybody who thinks they are important didn't get roads closed and a police escort. If they actually had to travel in some of the traffic and the road conditions, I think things would improve. I don't know much about Brazil, but this is a sad and tragic event.
June 10, 201610 yr Maybe they have the same brakes as ThailandStill based on the deaths per 100,000 Crucifixes and rosary beads are a more effective safety measure than Buddha images and Jatukams.
June 10, 201610 yr ....23.4 fatalities per 100,000 in Brazil.... ....36.2 fatalities per 100,000 in Thailand... Although I don't know the answer, what is the rate when speaking in terms of number of cars or number of people driving.

Lol, sounds like my Russian wife and her Eastern European friends and family when they come to the US. My MIL is here now and she has never owned nor driven a car. My wife obtained a Masters in Russia and is from a very large city. She never drive a car until after living in the US for a couple of years. Talking about bad drivers . . .

Can't argue with that Wonder how the buffalo would have went on the jump? The buffalo would have stopped once it's self preservation instinct kicked in lol Yes a mate who lives further out in woop woop then I do has a theory regarding buffaloes . Up to about 20 years ago the workers came home from the fields on a cart pulled by a buffalo , if they were asleep then the buffalo would go round a corner ,meet another one , look each other in the eye then pass each other without the sleeping worker knowing nothing about it. Then the workers got scooters ! The theory is buffaloes are safer than scooter riders.
