I finally found NaNa french bakery at nong hoy. Others on this forum have sent directions, however this is the first time that I've discovered it, Righteous products. I only tried a small quiche (last one and not fabulous) and i tried a cottage pie which was.

I've been having morning coffee and croissants at their Nana shop in Santhitham.

30bht for a hot latte is very reasonable, and 18bht for their small croissants is extremely dangerous as I'm trying to lose weight.

The croissants are constantly being baked on site, but the bread arrives in a van.

I want to try L'Opera as well but parking with 4 wheels is restricted to times that are inconvenient for me.

It's actually not that difficult usually.

You can either enter that soi just before the block it's in, or just turn right at the Anantara hotel and then park on Charoen Prathet road.

I think the pastries are better than the breads at l'Opera, the eclairs, mille-feuille, etc.

What's the parking for 4-wheel vehicles like at NaNa Nong Hoy?

When does the baking take place? I'd definitely drive out there for warm bread from a French baker.

L'Opera is fantastic. it is worth going there. you can park for a few minutes inside Anusarn Market and walk 2 minutes to the bakery.

there is some confusion about the other bakery mentioned above. i saw this being debated on facebook about two weeks ago and it was my experience as well. there are 2 different bakery chains apparently going by the same exact name. one is run by a very nice Thai lady who apparently learned to bake in Europe. some people insist that the French-run operation is by delivery only and is not affiliated with the chain with about 2 or 3 locations.

L'Opera baguettes are superb as are their eclairs, etc.

I spoke to the French guy when he got out of the delivery van at Santitham Nana.

And all 3 locations have the same website.

except that there are 2 businesses with similar locations using the same name. the photo of the Nong Hoi location is different from another Nong Hoi bakery with the same name.

I'm a big (and getting bigger sad.png) fan of Nana Bakery. The Nong Hoi branch is on my map which you can see (9th in the index here) and they are deservedly busy all day. They have managed to expand in a very controlled way and the quality of their products has, if anything, improved.

I don't recall anything I have tried which wasn't good but particularly recommend the Pork Lasagna, Cottage Pie, croissants of all types and Raisin Danish. I understand from a friend that they do weekly deliveries to some apartment buildings (Hilside 4, for sure) and that's another feather in their cap. Smart people.

There are two entrances to Nana Bakery at Nong Hoi - one to the shop - the other to the actual bakery. They are on two different sides of the same building.

I used to go to Nana bakery in Santitham about 7 or 8 years ago when I lived there. To be honest the bakery wasn't anything special then and Tops was better. The english food wasn't great either imho. However the thai salads were very good indeed, yang moo yang, glass noodle salad with mince pork was another favourite. Now we are in the Nong Hoi area I am interested to check it out. I am particularly partial to crusty baguettes.

Any chance of any members being able to post menus on here as I am not back till July. I might send Mrs O' over there one day to check it out ;-))

Been hearing about Nana for years now and just last Saturday my insurance agent who's office is next to the Nong Hoi location brought me some croissants.

WOW! Best I've ever had here, I won't eat those kind of bad calories unless it's really worth it and I had two.

Went to L'Opera a few times, found the bread too hard to chew, possibly due to overworked dough, and the pastries over priced for the quality.

Now that I know Nana sells more then just baked goods I'm going to have to try some of their other products.

There was an (apparently_ good bakery at Chiang Mai Gate which many people had raved about. So last week I actually had to walk over to that area and thought I should take a look as I was near there. Absolutely typical - takes me about 3 years to get there and its closed or gone! Anyone know what happened to the bakeries off CM Gate. I could find evidence of only one but someone said there were two??

L'opera's rustique bread is the best i've ever had anyplace. at 7:00am a warm rustique with butter and a pot of Mocha coffee couldn't be better

that would be Baan Bakery, run by a very nice Thai/Japanese couple, and one of the most popular bakeries in town. The baker gets it just right...not too sweet. any way they are due to re-open next month one soi away from the previous location of many years.

i love their baguettes and my wife does as well. we buy about 8 at a time and freeze them. their eclairs are good too but i avoid them if at all possible as they are fattening as hell!

That'll be the one as I know it has a Japanese involved. I guess I'll have to wait then !

Nice map. Some interesting places. So, is the rip off fuel station one to avoid or is it a particularly good one with an unfortunate name :)

Always liked L'Opera. Plus it's open early. Might try Nana later today. Just wish these places would publish opening hours on their sites.

why dont they have an oz bakery

make a proper meat pie and peas

a real pie with real meat

maybe a damper and billy tea

You can get fairly good pies frozen at Rimping sometimes. They come from an Aussie pie shop in Phuket called Lady Pies. Not brilliant but best I've had in a long while. Sometimes I find the filling a bit dry. I do prefer them fresh too.
