PHAYAO: Schools in central Phayao province may be ordered to close as an outbreak of the hand, foot and mouth disease takes hold in the northern city and outlying areas. The disease principally affects very young children at kindergartens and pre-schools.

Prevalence of the disease has increased markedly since heavy rains have lashed the province in the last two weeks.

Children who are suspected of having the disease must be kept away from school. Schools with cases are being contacted and shown what to do when it comes to deep cleaning to prevent the spread of the disease,

The provincial health authority said the problem was worse in Phayao town centre but outlying districts were also affected. Schools with outbreaks of many cases will be ordered shut while preventative cleaning measures are undertaken.

As usual I don't see any soap in the photo. Just rinse and all is well.

What is H F & M disease exactly ?

It's a viral infection, fever, skin rashes etc. No big drama really, but it is contagious which is probably why they're saying keep kids from school for a while if they have it.

I don't know if your school days were like mine, but if someone got measles or chicken pox or something, then it wasn't long before everyone had it.

Thanks Shiver . My son-in-law was over here last week and after 6 days he developed huge red rashes , my eldest daughter said the best she could find on Google were hives, rashes and bites and lumps are too common over here. Yes Shiver we all got those at school but mumps was the one I hated , nightmares every time I went to sleep.

Best to get these out of the way when you are young, some of them are

much much worse as an adult.

Yeah I had them young (should have bought shares in calamine lotion manufacturers), but my older sister escaped them, only to catch chicken pox many years later and she complained about it being worse when you're older. I should remind her of that next time she hears a complaint about 'man flu'.
