June 11, 201610 yr I keep getting diferent informations. When you go to Savannakhet for tourist visa do they ask for 20 000 thb or not?
June 11, 201610 yr They normally do not ask to see the 20k baht to get a visa. In the past when they could do 2 entry visas they asked to see it from those that had already gotten more than a couple of them there.
June 11, 201610 yr Author Yes but someone told me on another forum that they started asking for it. I wish somebodey who's done it in last two weeks woul provide us with new info
June 11, 201610 yr No reports of it being asked for on this forum and we have many members that go there regularly for visas.
June 11, 201610 yr Author Thank you and i hope you are right. But it would be great if someone can confirm your info

June 11, 201610 yr They do not usually ask to see 20K, but they can and could deny the visa if you can't show it.
June 11, 201610 yr OP, Are you maybe mistaken with Immigration officials at the Border asking to show 20k THB instead of the Consulate ?
June 11, 201610 yr Author Last time i went to savannakhet 3 months ago nobody asked me for any money. Not in the consulate nor the border. Now i'm confused Is there a diference now between consulate and border? Should i bring any money besides the money for visas and a hostel? What does OP stand for?
June 11, 201610 yr OP, Are you maybe mistaken with Immigration officials at the Border asking to show 20k THB instead of the Consulate ? It can be asked for by either. It's an MFA requirement for a tourist visa applicant to show 20K (40K for a family), but most Embassies/Consulates don't ask for evidence. It's an Immigration requirement that someone entering with a visa has a minimum of 20K (40K for a family) in cash. Again rarely asked for.
June 11, 201610 yr <snip> What does OP stand for? Opening Post/Opening Poster, or easier the guy who created the topic thus you in this case. For your other questions, look at elviajero post above this one. Edited June 11, 201610 yr by MJCM
June 12, 201610 yr All I can say is that in my past experience Savannakhet has never asked me to show 20,000 Baht to get a tourist visa when I applied there.
