I understand that the requested 400000 in a Thai Bank must be there for 2 (or 3, seems to depend on the local Immigration) Month in order to apply for One Year extension.

What I have not found out yet is for how long the money must fully stay in Bank after the application is accepted and a temporary extension is stamped into the Passport?

Asked two officers at my Immigration about this, got two answers .... Answer One: I can withdraw after the application is accepted. Answer Two: Must keep Money in Bank until the process is finished and One Year extension is granted and stamped.

Who is correct? The Officer or the Officer?

The rules state the money must be in the bank for 2 months on the date of application.

I suggest you leave the money in the bank until your application is approved. You can take some out for living expenses but certainly not all of it. There have been reports of immigration contacting the bank during the approval process.

Thanks, UbonJoe.

No big deal, just a PIA as I have to transfer more money from abroad now in order to purchase the car ...

Other question: I will start working again probably next month, preparing for the Work Permit now. Will the monthly income from a job in Thailand with Work Permit allow me to extend my Marriage extension next Year? In all the threads about this topic I have read, there is always the choice between Money in the Bank or certified income from abroad. How about legal income from working in Thailand?

You can use your income from working to meet the 40k baht income requirement. You will need your work permit and tax receipts to prove it.

At my last extension at Chiang Khan, Loei, I got my bank letter from the bank the day before I went. I presented my bank letter and my bank book. I was told that I needed a slip from the bank from that day. I asked why that was and was told that I may have taken the money out after I got the letter from the bank. I had to find a Siam Commercial Bank and make a transaction. After I finally got my extension, I asked the nasty lady what was preventing me from taking the money out right after I leave. She just smirked. Some immigration bosses apparently hate farangs. This XXXXX lady has caused me many problems. She is a nasty hateful person.

I don't mind following the rules to the letter but the rules should be the same at every office. I wish someone high up in Immigration would check out this person who delights in making problems for farangs. I have been using that same office for ten years and never had problems until this lady became the power hungry boss. Chiang Khan has gone backwards since she took over.
