New Passport

Featured Replies

Hi!

I just renewed my passport and not sure how to go about getting the visa (stamp?) changed from old to new passport. Does anyone know? Would really appreciate it.

While we're on the topic, I have a similar question.

I'm planning on renewing my passport, next time I'm home. I will have an exit-re-entry in the old one, will they just take the date for stamping re-entry from that?

Take your new passport and your old one to Immigration. They will be happy to transfer your stamps.

Visas are not transferred, only extensions of stay.

If you have a visa obtained at a consulate abroad, bring both passports when traveling.

If you have extension of stay from immigration in Thailand go there and get them transferred for free.

Immigration does not transfer visas. If you have a valid visa you will need to use both passports until it expires. When you leave the country you will need to show both passport on departure and they will transfer your entry stamp.

If you actually have an extension of stay you got at immigration the will do transfer your most recent extension stamp and do a stamp where they will enter the info about your old passport and the visa that was used to get the permit to stay you have been extending.

You will need a letter from your embassy requesting the stamp transfer.

Which office you go to in CM depends upon the type of extension you have.

You will show your old passport to show the re-entry permit (there is no exit permit) and they will stamp you into the country to the date on it in your new passport. Then you will have to go to immigration to have your stamps transferred.

The "TRANSFER STAMP TO NEW PASSPORT" form can be found on the Immigration website. Click on the DOWNLOAD FORM tab on the left.
