DSI to charge Dhammachayo’s followers for obstructing arrest attempt

BANGKOK: -- The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is now collecting evidence to file charges against some active followers of the controversial abbot of Wat Dhammakaya for obstructing its officials to arrest the abbot yesterday.

The new movement of the DSI came after DSI officials were barred from entering the inner sanctum of the temple where the abbot, Phra Dhammachayo, was believed to stay in.

The obstruction by the followers forming human wall in front of the place forced the DSI officials to suspend the search and layer pulled out if the temple back to Klong Luang police station where it was turned into a temporary command centre of the DSI to plan strategy to make arrest him peacefully.

DSI’s financial and banking investigation commander Pol Lt Col Pakorn Suchivakul said the DSI would have a meeting today to assess yesterday’s mission and what needed to be improved if the DSI is to seek another search warrant from the court to enter deeper into the temple and access to the abbot.

But he said the DSI is also considering to file charge against the followers who obstructed the DSI to arrest the abbot, adding evidence would be collected and file with Klong Luang police station.

I was watching this on the news yesterday. I must admit I was very impressed. The FBI looking guys looked very important. The police guys looked very important. The monks looked very important. Lots of press and followers there. All looked very good.

Only problem was - there didn't seem to be anyone there who was in the slightest bit competent or qualified in their position. I wouldn't have trusted any of them to hang a picture straight.

Considering to file charges..... Has someone started to grow a pair?

Obstructing a police officer in the line of duty , now were these people inside or outside the temple , if outside, an illegal gathering, I am quite sure the Junta has something under section 44, I'd ask some students but they are all in class right now...................................coffee1.gif

This whole thing is farcical. The authorities are incompetent and the followers blinded by misplaced idolatry in a personality cult passing itself off as a religion.

This is as good as having the circus come to town. Many more laughs and bags of entertainment yet to come.

I am tired of this comedy show. Time to get a new script writer, or change the channel.

I was thinking the exact same thing. This news is getting old... Aside from the headlines being severely misleading. What's the point of considering filing charges against those that blocked their way? If they had any intent on arresting them they should have done it when it happened. Instead they may file charges in which the followers may or may not show up to hear so their is a greater chance some or none will ever be arrested on those charges... pointless to say the least. Examples the DSI and police show now are going to be the accepted norm in the future.

When this farce finally ends, i want to get the book/film/tv rights, i could make a fortune.

People around the world would not believe that this is going on.

Government, police etc being made to look stupid by a load of brain washed clowns.

Keystone cops.

A couple thousand troops with tear gas in the middle of the night boom finished.

Don't tell me show me. Thats the most impressive temple I have seen yet in Thailand. Follow the money boys I think I know where it ended up.

So the net closes.

If we take the PAD government house 8 moths siege as a yardstick, this standoff will probably go similar distance. Then arrest warrants were issued to the core leaders and their followers obstructed the arrest attempts several times and none so far has been convicted. So good luck to the arrest warrants and the futility.

Some Monks are Criminals and some Criminals are Monks, after the fact, either way the Law is the Law, get on with it.

Back in the day, they would lay a siege, no water, food or now electricity until the surrender of the person or city !!

Worked for many centuries !!

You are fighting a literacy level that is easily influenced by corrupt people !!

"now listen up, all 3,000 of you, we order you all to report to the Police by Monday or we will be VERY angry"

there that told them!

....promise...???

...again...???

It's also possible the police / DSI believe they should give these folks a specific warning rather than just suddenly arrest them without any warning.

Would a warning in advance deter many of them from attending?

Would a warning prompt many of them to bring lots of children / ensure lots of old folks are on site to deter the police from arresting people?

Nobody knows the answers to either point.

I just wonder who is the mastermind behind these followers; the followers know full well that what they are involved in is not Buddhism and know full well that the superhuman spaceship 'monk' has a history of illegal matters and this current matter is very serious and involves thousand of naive / poor people being robbed of their personal support / survival savings.

I say again, who is ultimately leading these folks and has the ability to convince them that black is white?

Ahh but the PAD, the PAd...

Yea right, what a joke!!!!

where are they going to put all the people!!!!

they can arrest people who beat up tourist and convict and sentence them in a matter of weeks, but are unable to get

one monk, if he is still there. maybe join other monk in n.y. living it up.

Keystone cops.

That's an insult to the Keystone Cops, Ha!

Precisely and if I were him the last thing in the world I'd be doing is making a point that I wasn't resisting arrest and then nobody ever see me alive again.Maybe it's just me finds things more suspicious in this day and age when a professional organization apparently puts out unsubstantiated information for rumor milling.

These DSI guys are supposed to be the upper echelon. They don't seem to plan for contingencies. Every impediment results in a retreat and a new "plan".

Or, they could be masters of the quadruple head fake.

Carry on boys.
