Two questions

1. My UK passport is neraly full and yet still has 5 years to run. In th old days you could have it made bigger is this still the case?

If not is it better to renew from here or go back to the UK and do it, bearing in mind that the passport contains my "O" visa and my multiple rentry stamp?

2. I need to ship some largish stuff back to Europe (UK or Spain) any suggestions for shippers?

Thanks

No you cannot make it "bigger" that stopped many many years ago..you need a new pp

Renew in UK or Thailand, the only real difference is the cost of the plane ticket, unless your trying to fast track a pp then you can only do that in the UK

I don't recall ever being able to add pages to a UK passport, at least not in recent history :(

If you are going to the UK anyway, I would renew there. You will need to use both passports when you re-enter to get your correct stamp in the new PP then visit immigration to get the transfer formalised (they may do it at the airport).

The last time you could add pages was prior to 1988, in the old UK passports it stopped when they started issuing the "EU" British pp, ie the "red" one

Thanks,

Yes I am an old git! I think 1973 was the last time I did it!

Can anyone tell me how long and what is the process for renewing from Thailand (and will they return the old passport?)

Thanks again

You do it at Trendy Towers in BKK, you dont give them your old pp, you only give them photocopies

Did this last year, arranged with passport office in Britain in advance, paid 128 pounds walked in handed over my passport ,went shopping picked it up 4 hours later ,showed both on entry and got my leave to remain transfers at immigration ,very quick very easy.

You can request a UK Jumbo Passport with 48 pages for an additional charge. The standard one has 32 pages.

If I remember correctly, the old blue passport had 32 or 96 pages.

Sorry for the delay in thanking everybody who replied.

I have three supplementary questions.

1. Is the place mentioned in Trendy Towers the same place as Thais go for UK visas?

2. How long does the renew process via Trendy Towers take on average.

3. For renewing in the UK how far in advance can you book an appointment for the fast track you talk about - I'm only there for a week in October.

1. Yes.

2. Mine recently took 18 days.

3. Not sure but if you go to the website you can go all the way through the appointment booking process to the date selection part.
