If I visit Thailand with a 60 day tourist visa is it true that every time during that 60 days that I visit a neighboring country, like to visit Angkor Wat or Vientiene or Burma, that I will incur a 1900 fee for reentry permit even if it is just a day trip? I think years ago there was such a thing as a triple entry tourist visa, however when I go to the royal Thai consulate website (Los Angeles) I no longer see such an option. Thanks in advance for any help.

If you leave the country your permision to stay will end.

But if you purchase a re entry permit for 1,000 Baht your permision to stay will be kept alive.

Thanks eclipse, I keep on reading posts where posters talk about a 1900 baht re entry permit, at least 1000 baht doesn't sound quite as bad.

They are two different things.

An exit re-entry permit allows your current visa/extension to stay valid for a short trip outside of Thailand and a return.

A single trip exit re-entry permit costs 1000 Baht.

An extension of a single entry visa for 30 days costs 1900 Baht....for example a 30 day extension to a 60 day tourist visa allows you to stay for 90 days on that original 60 day visa.

in fact, all extensions normally havee a fee of 1900 Baht.

So you see, the two things are different, like apples and oranges.

There is no exit re-entry permit. It is only a re-entry permit. Thailand does not require you to have permission to leave the country.
