Visa Exemption Stamp KUL - BKK

Featured Replies

Hello all,

This is my first post, so bear with me.

First off, I would like to express my gratitude for these forums, the members, and the administrators. I would also like to extend a special thanks to the veterans of the forum who take their time to give such great information on immigration in Thailand. I have been here a little while now, and I don't think I would have made such well-informed choices with regard to my Visas without this forum. :)

My Thai Visa history before I go on: I am a New Zealander, having lived in Bangkok for a few years now. I came in on a Tourist Visa (60 days), obtained a ED Visa in Savannakhet which I used for one year, had to go back to NZ for a funeral and so used a re-entry permit on my ED Visa Extension, managed to get one of the last Double-Entry Tourist Visas from Savannakhet after that, and am now using a SETV from Savannakhet which is in a brand-new passport. Note: I extended all Visas at Chaengwattana to get maximum use from them.

Now, I was looking for some advice regarding my chances of getting a Visa Exemption Stamp from BKK having flown back from KUL. Up until a few days ago I was planning to fly home through KUL, but have decided I would like to stay longer. Taking into account all those Visas, and the fact I have a new passport (one SETV in it), will I be ok to go out and come straight back? Will I need to show 10k Baht as I sometimes read on here? Additionally, I have a few (maybe 3) exemption stamps in my old passport though they are certainly more than five years old now...

I plan to get a SETV from Vientiane or Savannakhet if this stamp plus the extension goes well, before flying back to NZ for Xmas and hopefully getting one of those nice new METVs.

If you're wondering what I've been doing in Thailand, I've been finishing off a Bachelors Degree from New Zealand via distance learning while doing a little traveling with a nice girl I met. Haven't worked a day in the past two years...

Thanks in advance for your help :)

With your history you will not have a problem getting a 30 day visa exempt entry when you return from KL. They normally do not ask to see the 10k baht.

Thanks for your prompt reply, ubonjoe!
