UDD core leaders summonsed to acknowledge charges

I see another folly by the junta to charge the UDD leaders. Highly predictable and expected by the UDD. Jatuporn and others will be happy to go through the judiciary process. All this injustice publicity will play into the mindset of their followers and bring them out to vote and to express their anger. A chance for the UDD during the judicary prcess to slam the double standard dealing with PDRC and royalist demonstrations with impunity.UDD outsmart the junta once again. Brillant.

If you refer to the anti-government protests of the PDRC that was under a different government.

So, no folly, but just pragmatism. If peaceful tourism promotion like Ms. Yingluck does OK, if agitate and provoke NOK.

If they actually jailed these terrorist scumbags instead of finding them guilty and suspending their sentences then they wouldn't have to waste their time and money on these charges.

what's the point of all these charges and trials when you don't punish the offenders??!!

Agreed. Don't know. Perhaps you could ask Newin Chidchob. He knows. And Abhisit, he knows too. And Suthep, he *definitely knows...

And that awful Praewa, who is the subject of another thread... ah the joys of getting a 'special' name...

W

Rule of Law anyone? Of course the one to ask would be the chap in 'self-exile', the one everyone including UDD regards as their 'de facto' leader. Time for the real grassroot organisations to move away from Ample Rich elite folks who only use them as cannon-fodder while shopping in Paris. Matter of priorities I guess.

Burning of Bangkok.....

Jesus.

Oh, you mean the Zen department store that the owners are alleged to have burned down for the insurance rather than refurbish... and for which nobody has been found accountable.

Hardly Bangkok, but then the non-thinkers charter specifically says no facts are necessary, facts are whatever you want them to be. And whatever it suits you to believe.

Deny, deny, deny.

Day of infamy. A ugly part of history. Buildings allowed to be burn and authority in no hurry to stop the burning.

Only one building burning that I can see. Lots of smoke and lots of buildings not burnoing so the expression "BLKK burning" seems a bit of hyperbole.

But why did the authorities not try to put their fire services in? Because it was a known insurance scam? (the insurance company involved pressured the Abhisit government to declare it 'terrorism' because terrorism was an exclusion on the insurance policy)

Or was it because of the Riyal Thai Army snipers (under the command of Gen Prayuth) couldn't be relied upon not to shoot the firemen?

Or because the fireman all had a strange compulsion to "run into the bullets" and didn't want to take the risk?

W

Although about the UDD in 2016 it's nice to see the 210 events rehashed and rewritten. The usual suspects, although for Winnie probably the first time as cuddly Pooh bear. Inconvenient memories don't come back.

So, Army in heavy gunfights with 'peaceful protesters, not terrorists', photo's which showed up December 2011 (or 2012?) indicated at least three armed groups, the Army the only legitimate one. Of course the fire brigade was a bit hesitant even if the Authorities were not.

We may thank the local UDD leadership for their love of shoutcasts and broadcasting them on PTV. Self-incrimination one might say. THeir de facto leader had said to return on the first shot fired, but unfortunately first needed to go shopping in Paris. He had promised that to his daughters. Surely every father with kids can understand and would put priorities likewise.

As the local UDD leadership still has the same 'de facto' self-exiled leader, anything they do is suspect. A lot is politics and provoking. Working to rouse their masses to help their self-exiled Elite guy and even give their lives if necessary.

Although some seem to like to use the D word in describing the current government I fear that the bunch of UDD leaders will be granted bail again, like in a real democracy.

Posts regarding the burning of Bangkok in 2010 have been removed as well as the replies. This is not a re-hash of the events of 2010, this topic is about:

BANGKOK: -- Summonses have been issued by the Crime Suppression Division police for core leaders of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) to acknowledge the charges of illegal assembly of more than five people in public places.

The issuance of the summonses was in response to a complaint lodged with the CSD police by a judge advocate officer, Colonel Burin Thongpraprai, accusing the UDD core leaders of defying Order No 7/2557 of the National Council for Peace and Order which forbids political gathering in public of more than five people.

Now that the "core leaders" of the UDD have been arrested, can we expect their millions of card-carrying, dues-paying followers to hit the streets in protest?

The UDD has to be an expensive operation to run, with Jatuporn alone accumulating around a million baht per year, and there is all the other turkeys as well. And their supporters are allegedly poor, so membership would have to be quite cheap, therefore there has to be literally millions of members willing to protest the persecution of their brave "leaders". Or only one, and he's otherwise engaged.

I think you and the few junta fan boys left here on TVF may need to use just a little brain power if possible, ie do you think the shopping mall is privet property and that the public are given limited access?

Not to bright hey...

Case dismissed and should never have been charged in the first place, the problem is, the unbridled bias and judicial slat is a blight on the country and so-call western educated people that support these actions should be completely ashamed of them selves...

cheesy.gif arm chair lawyer.

It does not matter private or public property no political gatherings. I really hope they use this to lock up the rabblerouser Jattuporn he got it coming for inciting the burning of BKK.

"cheesy.gif arm chair lawyer." Read the OP mate, the UDD core leaders where summonsed to acknowledge charges of political gathering of more than five people in a PUBLIC PLACE......!!!!!! Semantics maybe but the law needs to be accurate unlike uncle Too's no selling alcohol in the vicinity of a schoolfacepalm.gif

Now is the shopping mall privet property? YES or NO??? if it is privet property then it is a false charge and should not have been issued.

"It dose not matter privet or public property no political gatherings. So are you suggesting if I had a family and friends BBQ and politics came up in conversation/debate then everyone would be charged? and that would go for any household in the land?

Is the law for PUBLIC gatherings but applied to privet gatherings also but not law? please clarify and if I'm wrong I'm happy to apologies, cheers.

US.legal - definition of a public place.

"Public place" means any enclosed indoor area used by the general public or serving as a place of work containing two hundred fifty or more square feet of floor space, including, but not limited to, all restaurants with a seating capacity greater than fifty, all retail stores, lobbies and malls, offices, including waiting rooms, and other commercial establishments.

So, NO, a shopping centre/mall is a PUBLIC place and not a PRIVATE property!!

You stand corrected and the government is legally entitled to arrest them.

The arguments should end. One day you too will become victims of Thailand and you will see the light. So just wait for your number. As long as their is no honesty in the system, everyone will be let down by the system. So, Enjoy the sights of the Thai Colosseum where those with ultimate power decide which man, woman or child is to risk their freedom in today's game!

Yeah, definitions are different in Thailand. Take "perjury" for example.
