I have read many posts on related immigration questions but am still unclear about my own situation so all help appreciated!

I am coming near the end of my first O-A Visa, which says "Enter before 11 June 2016." My last entry was May 15 and my Departure card from then says "Admitted until 14 May 2017." I plan to leave again Aug 4 and return Sept 1.

Is it correct that I don't need to extend my O-A before I go and instead just get a Re-entry Permit at the airport on departure? If so, when can or should I renew the O-A? Thanks again!

You only need a re-entry permit to keep your current permit to stay valid. The re-entry permit would be valid until May 14th of 2017. You can get the re-entry permit at you local immigration office or at either airport in Bangkok when you leave the country. A single re-entry permit is 1000 baht and a multiple is 3800 baht.

You can get a new OA visa at an embassy or consulate in your home country when ever you want to.

You can apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement at immigration up to 30 days prior to May 14th.

  • Your visa is finished after June 11th and can't be extended now or anytime.

You have permission to stay until May 14th 2017 and can keep that permission alive by using a re-entry permit.

Your permission to stay can be extended in the last 30 (maybe 45) days OR you can apply for a new visa.
