Chiang Khong Border Run - Visa Exemption

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I'm looking for some updates on the Chiang Khong border run. I have a US passport with a tourist visa that expires next month, so I'm hoping to take a bus to Chiang Khong, hop over the border to Laos for as little time as possible and come back in with a 30 day visa exemption. I've only had 1 visa exemption and 2 tourist visas in the past. Has anyone done this recently? Do you think I'll have any trouble with immigration?

Many thanks.

You should have no problem getting a visa exempt entry there with your history of entries.

You should have no problem. There was a recent report of someone being denied an immediate re-entry, but I believe they had several recent visa exempt entries.
