BANGKOK, 26 June 2016 (NNT) - The National Legislative Assembly is speeding up its move to address problems found in the country’s regional educational system.

Member of the NLA committee on education and sports Kosol Petchsuwan, recently chaired the opening of a seminar on the administration of regional education under the Ministry of Education, which was initiated to bring in new ideas and promote greater understanding of the issue.

The seminar was also in response to the findings of problems in the management of education in various regions, where connectivity has been lackluster among local schools.

The committee was hoping that the serious adoption of the regional educational system would help improve the quality of education across Thailand.

At the seminar, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education Dr. Kamjorn Tatiyakavee offered a lecture on the problems of educational administration in Thailand, and the obstacles encountered which range from low literacy to the shortage of teaching personnel.

He said that, while the ministry has introduced a system to address these issues, the efforts have not been successful. Therefore, the National Council for Peace and Order resolved to order the setting up of educational committees in all provinces to help the ministry solve all the pressing issues.
