BANGKOK: -- The man arrested for the murder of the five year old girl in Charoen Krung Soi 107 earlier in the week has been ordered held for 12 days as investigations continue.

No application for bail was made on behalf of Natthapong or Bumbim, 34. He is a mentally deficient man who was employed to help look after the condo where the girl was found on the roof, reported Daily News.

He initially told police that he pushed her in a disused swimming pool that contained a foot of dirty water. She was found with her skirt pulled up near a locked fire door but there was no evidence of sexual assault or rape. Footprint were found near the girl's body as well as some smashed flowerpots.

Despite relatives helping police with the interview process Natthapong refuses to tell investigators anything more about what happened.

In a latest development police have added another charge of abduction to murder charges that he already faces.

He will be held at the southern Bangkok criminal court while investigations and evidence gathering continues in the case.

The death of this girl is an absolute tragedy. Nearly as tragic would appear to be the lack of support for people like the accused which may have prevented it from happening in the first place.

Rather than look in the mirror and reflect on the weaknesses in the system and what could have been done, the obviously mentally/emotionally deficient man looks like he is going to be tossed into jail by the state and the whole thing forgotten about..... until next time.

In all fairness, many developed nations still struggle with the mentally ill, so I suppose it is not surprising that a state that far too often seems as dysfunctional as the accused, doesn't know how to cope. sad.png

Tragedy is that nobody give a damn about anything but money.

Does Thailand even have institutions for the criminally insane? Or any type of mental hospitals at all? Ive never heard of one.Or does it work on the premise that No Thai can ever be mentally imperfect.
