Fourth list of suspected corrupt officials sent to government



BANGKOK: -- A list of the fourth group of government officials suspected of involvement in corruption has been submitted to the government, Justice Minister Paiboon Kumchaya disclosed on Wednesday.

In his capacity as chairman of the National Directorate of Corruption Suppression, General Paiboon said he didn’t know how many officials were in the list but was confident that the list was correct and the 4-5 agencies which undertook the investigation had obtained sufficient evidences against them.

Asked about the City Hall’s 39 million baht “lighting tunnel” project which was investigated by the Office of the Auditor-General, the justice minister admitted that he had not received a file of the case from the OAG.

He also said that he didn’t know whether the case was included in the new list of suspected corruption cases.

The first list resulted in a few sideways moves and that was about all, since then there's been silence so will it be any different with this fourth list ?

Does the govt actually intend doing anything substantial with these lists or is having the black on some people enough to be going on with plus knowing the situation surrounding friends and cronies ?

I just want Prayuth, Prawit, and Paiboon to make lists of all the people who they personally had corruption charges against prior to taking over the nation. They've been holding high offices in the military for a long time so they should have personally submitted names to the authorities in that time. They should have fired and jailed people under their power just from their personal discovery of corruption. It shouldn't have taken scandals in the media for them to get names. They've deal with endless funds from the Thai government and supervised thousands of men under their power. Thailand including its military is rampant with corruption. The Pm and friends should show us their history of honesty while working as generals. Lets see the lists from their long careers so we can go out and stop corruption. Give us some inspiration!

Maybe they could get one of those old dot matrix printers with the accordion fold paper, just start printing up continuous list of those on government salary (I won't call them "workers" as that implies work being done). Install next to corruption office just keep it going day and night. On further thought, probably a bank of those required.....

If Prayuth could just give one name of someone he brought up on corruption charges while in the military prior to taking over the nation! Just one person he sent to face charges for corruption while in the military. One corrupt coworker he called out when he was lower in the ranks? Nothing? No surprise.

Instead of handing over ONE list with everyone on it, they divide into multiple lists so it looks like they are always working. Each "list" will be end with the same result. Nothing

We know who you are and we are coming for you!! Oh please give me a break. All I need is the bank account for the government welfare fund. I will do an immediate transfer. OK once your deposit is confirmed your name will be stricken off of the list.

Interesting that this is the fourth list, has anyone yet heard of the outcome of any of the previous lists? Seems someone gets the lists,then moves a few to inactive posts and probably receive the fabled brown envelope....If they announce these lists they should announce the outcome...

This is NOT a wealthy country by world standards, wiki and all that, so how does a few families gain so much money.

They use the same proven system that the mafia uses in the USA and Europe. The Commission awards franchises or concessions based on bids of up-front 'donations' and ongoing percentages of the take.

If you want to open a business, you have to get permission and negotiate the percentage. Guaranteed no competition for the price of an up-front 'donation' and an ongoing share of the booty. It's a big business just to count a trillion baht.

Just think... 1.75 trillion baht with nary a single day's hard work involved.

From the action on lists 1, 2 & 3 I'd say the PM will be taking his time mulling over which of the little fish will be sacrificed.....punished.
