BANGKOK, 30 June 2016 (NNT) – The Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs has given assurances that efforts against human trafficking are continuing at full force while revealing he will soon travel to Myanmar to discuss border security.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has responded to speculation that Thailand will be lifted from tier 3 to tier 2 on the United States’ Trafficking in Persons report, saying that the government made combating the issue of human trafficking a national priority and confirming that it will continue its efforts.

The deputy premier also disclosed that he will soon travel to Myanmar with a delegation consisting of senior military and police personnel to meet with the neighboring nation’s President on border security issues. He confirmed he will also meet with Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi to build on relations initiated during her recent mission to the Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has pointed out that news the US will adjust Thailand’s standing in the TIP report has yet to be confirmed and will only be validated once the report is made public. He nevertheless reiterated the government has been working seriously on the issue and has done all in its power to improve the situation in the country.

Yes we are stepping up our efforts in arresting those who expose human trafficking in Thailand as it Tarnishes our friends names and the image of Thailand. Those that speak out against our business will be prosecuted with the full wieght the hub of justice can throw at you. Some will also conveniently disappear for good.

Good for the deputy prime minister, he's doing a bang up job. In fact often it is too good! Sometimes they put innocent people in prison and of course they, “just don't care!” Or it has something to do with the intelligence level!

My friend is serving 10 yrs in Bang Kwan Prison after police fabricated a story about her sex trafficking and benefiting from prostitution. She was a cashier in a restaurant in Isan. No education, very vulnerable and trusted everyone. The cops asked her boss to pay a fine and he did not. The Boss was sentenced to 15 years. We have tried to post bail 3 times. Appeal is pending. Bail is always rejected. It is a government policy case. Guilty unless you prove your innocence.

This is not entirely correct and DPM Pawtwit knows as well as I do, that their has been no comment out of the US, only rumour , being in a neighbouring ASEAN country this morning the press comments from the US , a decision has not been made whether Thailand will go to tier 2, the US was still not convinced on Thailand efforts, DPM Pawtwit as always manages to turn the subject to suit his own ends, however this is not to say that Thailand might go to tier 2 ,lets wait for the official announcement , not a made up one from an Un- elected Representative of Thailand...........................................coffee1.gif .
