I renewed last year, NO medical certificate needed.

Many thanks to both prompt replies. I just didn't want to go all the way out there only for them to have reinvented the wheel again, after all TIT!

Go in a few days after the license expires and you wind up with a 6 year license.

Take your cell phone, and reading glasses if you need them. You will wind up spending a couple of hours playing games on your phone, just like everyone else, while two videos with tiny English subtitles play unattended and unnoticed.

After the videos finish you pay your money, get your picture taken, pickup your license, and leave.

If you are renewing a five year licence can you get the residence letter and then renew it if you are only here on a 30 day entry? I got mine when I was on a non O originally but now I just get a 60 day tourist visa or a 30 day entry?

Mine expires end of October, I will be back again on a 60 day in late January so if a 60 day Tourist visa is ok then I will put off renewal u til then.

If I cant get it renewed then I will just use my home licence and an IDP from now on I thnk.

who knows?

every ltd makes up their own rules, you have lived here long enough, you should know.

talk to your local and find out what they want - and than deal with it.

there is no set rule for anything in thailand.

Did mine this morning, no medical cert needed and accepted photocopy of letter of proof of residence for motorbike.

Arrived at 0830, did colour and distance perception test, watched video, left at 1050.

Remember to take extra hundred baht tax for each licence.

As he said will depend where you go - which you do not say.

If Pattaya almost certainly not for another 5 year - but also you now get 2 years on the temporary licence.

Just jumping in on this thread, do i need a medical certificate going from the old 1 year license to a 5 yr license my 1 year expired a few months back, thanks in front for any help!

Maxc......

What's the best time of day to arrive to go through the process? Does the Pattaya office require us to watch the video now? I've read some places do, but last time I got a 5-year license they didn't, just the computer test, color test and reaction test.

Oops, missed it the first time:

Do the videos play on a loop so you can hop in at any time? And, it's on the "honor system" that you watch them?

No, you have to wait. I waited over an hour before it started.
