Hello fella expats. The time has come after 16 years being in Thai non stop, to leave unexpected with a serious problem witch i have peace with to leave it for what it is.

I got an overstay, and i got it over 1 year. So me and my wife decided to leave both. And we have no problem with it. We know about the penalty and the ban on re-entry for some years,

but what is smart, my plan i had in mind:

I just have a new passport because the old one was stolen, i got the file from the police, and so i need to stamp the visa from the old passport to the new one, witch result in turning myself in as I have an overstay.

I guess there is no other way, is it?

Before i enter the emigration division 1 in cheng wattana BKK. I will carry 20000,- thb with me and a valid flight ticket for that same day late at night. My suite case is ready and packed, our house is occupied by my wife's mother as before, and our car will be sold soon. I'm pretty lucky my wife and family are a quite higher class in society so they agreed to pay all house expenses them self. So i am ready to leave my habitat and go to my country of origin, where i have completely nothing. Not even a bank account nor family. So its gonna be a big step and big steps must be taken. After i got things sort, like a place to live, my wife will follow me.

As i suppose not a lot of people have experience in overstaying, but i would be pleased with some advice while still being on the Thai side, before i turn myself in.

I hear some overstayers exit on the airport, pay the fine, get that re- entry ban and leave. I guess i can not do that because i get issued a brand new passport right?

Thanks for any advice.

Think I'd try at the airport if i were you. They can most certainly do an exit on your new passport - make sure you have all the details of the stolen passport as well as the date/flight no.of your last entry. Once they have tracked you down in the system it ought to be simple.

You don't need to turn yourself in at immigration to get your stamp transferred. You can have it done on departure from the country.

You will need the police report for the lost passport and a letter your embassy stating you got the new passport from them.

If your overstay is over one year but less than 3 years you may be banned from entering the country for 3 years.
