Thai Defense Minister addresses issues with tank purchases from Ukraine

There is absolutely no reason why Thailand shouldn't have tanks and submarines or any other military equipment it requires.

The way the world is going these days it's not a matter of 'if' but a matter of 'when' the world will be engaged in another world war.

And Thailand will play a significant role as a non-aligned nation?

How? By trying to run away faster than anyone else?

In a war, Thailand might just as well have sticks and stones.

Winnie

No need for sticks and stones when you have these.

Indeed. And I seriously wish that were less funny and less true.

We definitely need a dislike button. In an all out war these tanks and a sub would last about 5 minutes.

5 minutes longer that they would last without them.

I'd love to see these steel beasts rolling about Issan today, they'd be up to their turrets in mud, and bogged down!!

Obviously these awesome Generals have studied tank warfare, you also need to purchase the transporters to get them to the Battle lines, the infrastructure for logistics needs to be in place first.

Careful with its budget? Sure. Buying submarines and tanks and whatever else that ISN'T needed. The BS never stops!

, As if Thailand could defend against China or Russia or USA? Buy all the tanks you want, Thailand will still have to depend on a Superpower in a world War.

They have no need to defend against China or Russia. Thailand will be on the same side as those two powerhouses.

Not sure that would be the case. Thailand has a long history of trying to not be on a side. The US is just annoyed their boy Taksin got the boot and the Thais are trying not to appear as a US lackey. Also suspect they also won't to too close to China either.

Yeah, we really need tanks and submarines, what with the likely combat zones being jungle and shallow seas. What they really need are fast patrol boats and helicopters.

somebody must be planning a coup, no other use for tanks in thailand

So, why do Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc have them?

same reason, for use against their own people if needed. or do you think those countries might be planning to take over Thailand?
